Quote:
(09-04-2003) - A teenager was shot to death, allegedly by his father, in front of a popular Ocean Beach market Thursday, touching off a SWAT standoff nearby, San Diego police said.

The victim, believed to be a 14-year-old cross-country runner, was shot three times in the head in front of the People's Organic Food Cooperative at 4765 Voltaire St. around 3 p.m., according to the SDPD's Bill Robinson.

A witness told officers that about 15 shots were fired, Robinson said.

The teen's father then turned up at a duplex several blocks away, at 2776 Worden St. A police SWAT team was called to the location, where the man was threatening to shoot himself, Robinson said.

The death penalty should not be used.

I can't make up my mind on whether or not I agree with that. It is definitely not right to take a life. He should get life imprisonment at least.

Life imprisonment would be a better sentence for the father. Death sentence is not really all that good from a punishment point of view, and I don't believe in capitial punishment.
