Damn it, I got kicked offline and didn't get to post in time. Post another one, it's been a long time since I've done algebra. Well, w/ fractions anyway,

I think it's tenth grade, which would be year eleven here. But I'm not sure if I converted it correctly.

What?! Tenth grade and you can't even do simple algebra like *that*?! Sorry man, just had to comment. I can do it. So can you. At least, I think you should be able to...
No offence.

Isn't that a tad too easy for 10th grade? It's very basic algebra. (Isolate the x (or Y in this case))

I always found english an easier subject than maths. And I really hated algebra. Im good at stuff like geometry, chance, visual maths, but I just hate algebra and triginometry.

I said I wasn't sure. I looked in C99's "This is Me" topic to find his age. If he was in this country he'd be in Year 11, which I think is Grade 10.

It's not quite so hard as it looks...
0 = 8/10y + 56
So y has to be a number, that makes zero when 8 tenths of it are added to 56, which means it has to be a negative number. Well, it has to be -56, so it would be:
-56 + 56 = 0
Now, 8 x 7 = 56, so that's where you see your 8. The answer is -70 because 8 tenths of 70 = 56.
Hmmm, didn't really explain it well.

Good explanations eveyone! I think we have a couple of future math teachers here. As for math itself, my class just got started on the theorem of Pythagoras.

I can't stand maths, although I got a 1 for it in standard grade(a 7's the worse). Could there be a proper topic for people to help each other with homework?
