PostSat May 10, 2003 8:06 pm    Cheers in Space.....you think?

I am an avid Star Trek fan, watching every episode that there is of TNG and Voyager. But...is it my opinion or is DS9 really boring to watch? Just the same thing pretty much. The same station and what not. They added the worm-hole, but that got old really quick. What do you think?

I think that you should stay in the Voyager forum and leave the real world of good televison that DS9 lived in and Voyager missed badly. You're so off the mark that it's almost funny, but instead of funny it's just sad and pathetic.

Oh yeah, the wormhole was "added" in the first episode of the show.

^Chill.

Yeah, I can see how you might think that.

But consider this. Staying in the same place *could* be boring----or, it could be more interesting than any of the other shows. For one thing, every event has to have consequences-----they can't just fly off into the sunset. This allows for far more intricate continuing storylines than any of the other Trek series.

It also means that the writers *have* to be more creative, because they can't just introduce a new forehead alien every week.

Secondly, there's the Dominion War. Its is the only time on Trek that we've seen a full-scale war.

Amen to Lindley

Ive never been bored by any episode of Ds9,whereas with voyager`s extreme technobabble at times,i was bored to sleep.Ds9,and TNG,my life ;/

Conversly,in a way its the most non "Trek" trek there is......Gene roddenberry i doubt would ever have allowed it,because he believed in the "everyone gets along fine together, all works out for the best" universe, and ds9 had bucketloads of conflict.Im definitely not complaining though, let he be remembered for TOS and restarting the phenomena with TNG.............

How much of it have you seen?

Yes, the first season was definately boring at times. Even the second season had its lowpoints. Heck, every season had bad episodes. But overall, its not boring. Not at all.

I'm shocked at those names, Lindley. Maybe your season 5 offering, but "Take me Out to the Holosuite" was hilarious, a nice changeup to the war arc and the very serious start to that season.

And "Let he Who is Without Sin" had some important things to say not only about Worf and his backstory, but also about the state of the Federation in the face of a very real impending war with the Dominion, (and a very real war with the Klingons, at the time)

I'm gonna disagree, I still see no bad eps from either season I mentioned.

Its true that those two episodes were better than 90% of what ENT has done so far, but they were still subpar by DS9 standards.

I just don't think they were subpar, but to each his/her own I guess.

I haven't seen DS9 in forever, but i remember that it was the best of all Treks. It's still my favorite, even though they don't show it anymore. I don't ever remember it being boring, but of course i don't remember the first 2 seasons. if you watch it, you need to actually watch it for a while. it's like a lot of shows. When some shows started, i thought they were a little boring or stupid, but i got stuck watching it for a while, and i started liking it.

I used to think this show will suck, but I love it once I started to watch it. It definitely is *NOT* boring. Take a look at the two-parter episodes 'Improbable Cause' and 'The Die Is Cast'. And how about all those episodes with Sloan in them? I love Sloan and his Section 31.

DS9 was more dramatic and less actiony (especially the early seasons) than Voyager. It's alot harder to appreciate the episoides out of order too.

Ds9 wasent bad but it was the series that I thoght was the worst one. My favorite series is actualy star trek viyager. Especially that they have seven of nine because she is the best actor. And anyone who says voyager is boring or suks...they are crazy.

Oh and its jean luc picard not jean luck picard. its a french.

Wow, so many years gone by. I was actually the "John Luck Picard" that started this topic, but forgot all of my information. Since I've had 5 years to think about it, and have gotten around to watching all of the episodes, I have decided DS9 is one of the greatest shows. I recall the reason I called it "Cheers in Space" was b/c I heard that from someone else, and I wanted to seem like I knew what I was talking about...having never seen DS9. Or Cheers for that matter .

- I used to think so as well...but then I got interested in it recently and started to watch much more of it. And their's one thing I've learned is that if you could call DS9 - one thing is that it was not boring. Actually I find the more I watch it - the more I'm intrigued and the more I want to watch it.
