My mom does eBay so we've gotten it over and over...we just found a program at mailwasher.net that shows you the possible threats before you get into your email. It's been working so far.

Kinda scary, I got a junk mail that was from someone I knew from school, but wasnt on my contacts, and i opened it, and it had an attatchement but i didn't open the attatchemnt (anno spellin lol), but I later found out it had the virus in it. So I was kinda lucky, but i wouldnt have opened it neway

It's a .scr or .pif file, i think this is the one you're talking about. sobig.F? is the virus i nearly had, it looks through your files and emails itself to every email address on your computer, even ones you never knew were there. But it's ONLY if you OPEN the attatchemnt. Go to www.mcafee.com for more.

I'm pretty sure its a .pif file. I had the unfortunate blessing of opening it and now I get nearly 100 letters of crap spam every day.

Oh how will I ever delete it???

I always never open files that are sent from someone I don't know, and I they're from someone I don know then I scan them. Although once there was some spy thing. It was on 3 places on the hard drive and everytime you restarted the computer it would reinstall it again in the other places. It took my dad, a computer programmer about 2 hours to get rid of the blasted thing.

I just delete all new emails if they're from someone I don't know. I also look at the file size. If it's really high, getting into the 100s or even higher, it's likely to contain a virus.

Now days, hotmail scans all attachments for viruses.

I use Symantec Anti Virus Corp 8.0. I am pretty safe . I am actually going to setup a SAV 8.0 server for my LAN, and all clients will recieve updates from the server

I'm surprised... for a week now I've not received the new virus! I only got 12 e-mails containing it, and I just deleted them...

Exactly. Everything above 100 is off-limits unless you're expecting a report or something from someone you know very well.
