In all honesty I think Trek needs a break...by pumping out series end after end, they're gonna ruin the franchise even more so thatn they've done already.

Well, what about those books they were writing independent of any TV series? What about turning the plot line from the books--as well as writing some new stuff about it, I'd think--into the next Star Trek? They've already got the characters and the stories right there for them. And they know people like them, bc people have bought the books...

I like the idea of doing a series based on some of the books, maybe they can do one on the S.C.E

That's a very interesting comment to make.
I collect the official UK Star Trek Magazine. In an issue a few months back, they did an interview with Marina Sirtis and she had similar comments. She said that Trek needed to go away for awhile. I'd have to check the article for sure but I think she said '10 years'. She said it should go away and that people are Trekked out.
She went on to say that it should come back in several years and give fans a chance to get excited about it. Build us up.
Just think-in the 80's, we only had a movie to look forward to once every couple of years. But since 1987, Trek has been with us constantly and some shows have run concurrently. TNG started in 1987, DSN in 1993, VOY in 1995 and ENT in 2001. TNG and DSN ran concurrently until TNG ended in 1994. DSN and VOY ran concurrently. You can have too much of a good thing.
If ENT does end in the next couple of years, I think they should hold back on a new Trek show. By all means, do a movie once every couple of years (or a movie trilogy as suggested by a forum member). But one day, we will need a break from Trek on TV. In my opinion, anyway.

Ok...seriously. I could not wait 10 years for new Star Trek. 2 years, probably, 5 years maybe, but 10...
