You guys don't need to be leavin earth...
ONLY PEOPLE I WANT TO LEAVE WILL LEAVE MUHAHAHAHA
I will be the only one with the technology
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I don't think humans deserve to be able to leave earth.
Any planets habitable probaly already have life or they wouldn't be habitable.
And if they have life there are probaly already natives there meaning we would have to push them off there land which we don't own.

Even if we do have warp drives in the future, we will probably never see them in our lifetime.

Supposedly some scientist has already managed to create plasme, unfortunatly he has only been able to keep it in it;s plasma form for about 0.0000001 seconds.

Antimatter is another part of the fabric of space time. No one invented it. Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that if you fired one particle of matter and it's opposite anti matter particle at each other in reality, you would release so much energy that it would blow the ships to bits. If we reach the speed of light, I don't think it will be using antimatter. But I suppose anything's possible....

Considering the type humanity were living in if wedidnt correct these probs and go out to space and meet a hostile alien force...and we pick a fight with them and loose..it could be the end of earth.................

The problem doesn't lay in if we have antimatter or not...the problem lies in what to do with the antimatter. Creating a warp field.
It is literally impossible to travel faster than light. And even then we would need ZERO mass to go light speed. Something tells me a giant starship has a little more than zero mass, give or take a few thousand megagrams (yes, there is such a thing as a megagram...same with a gigagram and teragram etc.).
So, you see, even if we used an antimatter/matter reaction to propel a ship, we probably wouldn't get that much faster than (total shot in the dark) Mach 100 or so.
So, to get around this little problem, we have to use the reaction to create a warp field. To alter the spacetime continuum. Bend space, so to speak...so that the actual distance to travel is much shorter than it would be without the warp field.
The problem seems a little more complicated now, doesn't it?

Actually I don't think that the problem is further complicated. More over, I think that you helped the discussion along. If we make a field to support the ship's integrity so it could warp the fabric it would be possible, as you said. So the real problem that we should deal with now is inso facto: find the shield.

um ... hi im new, i just want to say that, (well this is my opinion anyone who agrees then thats ok and anyone who doesnt then thats ok too) i dont think humankind should be allowed to go any further into space then they already are. Well not until we can live with each other, because if u cant live with each other then u wont be able to live with other races, another prob is that we seem to like war, we al ready messed up this planet, i dont think we should be allowed to step foot on another planet, not if we can change things for the better on Earth. well thats my 2 cents.
