Ablative armor on all of the ships would be a good idea. Better yet, howabout a friggin cloak! Screw the Romulans!

How about a new class of starship, a purely made for war. It would be huge, not manueverable at all, but the heavier armor + reinforced shields would help for the loss. Quantam torpedo launchers, photon torpedo, phaser bank after phaser bank, forward and rear shooting pulse phasers (like the Defiant's cannons). Pure power, no scientific crap.

I like the idea of building a new class of Federation Starship, one that is very larged and armed to the teeth. Personally I'd fit mine out with:

*Transphasic Torpedos.
*Quantum Torpedos.
*Pulse Phaser Cannons (fore and aft).
*Rotating Photon Torpedo Turrets (lcated at the top, bottom and sides of the ship).
*Phaser Banks ..... as many as damn well possible!
*Cloaking Device.
*Hull armour.
*8 Small fleets of a new Starfleet Attack Ship (Fighter).

A ship like that would kick ass!

Actually, there is a ship with nearly that configuration.... It is the U.S.S. Nimitz, and is a refitted Soveriegn class vessel. Its refits include:
Single warp naccelles replaced with dual naccelles.
Large ship storage designed to carry and pilot remotley, almost 10,000 runabuots refitted with more weapons.
Albarative armour
20 naccelle phasers
120 ship phasers
25 naccelle tricobalt launchers
100 ship tricobalt launchers
A cloak capable of allowing the ship to pass through solid objects.
Special mechanisms to release/attach extra ship storages (Same as above) to each of the naccelle pylons and the upper of the ship, allowing maximum ship storage to be almost 50,000 ships that can all be deployed within 5 minutes and back into the ship within 10.
