PostThu Jul 31, 2003 4:31 pm    Achea - Divine Land

Yes, this story is based on my old RPG with the same name.

Prologue

Achea, a land of beauty and harmony. Great Empires live in peace and trade, problems are solved without violence as often as possible.
This land is paradise itself...Or is it? In the frozen north, the roof of the world, a great evil is amassing. Oblivious to the danger, the free races of Achea, The Kingdoms of Men, the Elves of the great forests of Nalah Dah, The Dwarves of Khaz-Modan, The Minotaurs of Tharnenon, The Centaurs of Gariil, the Drow of the Underground city of Menzoberranzan and the fallen empire Tuvak'Dulas of the Trolls keep on living as usual.

In the past, the free races of Achea fought eachother relentlessly because of different reasons. Until the first War of Fire.
A great army of Demons invaded Achea to destroy it as it had countless worlds before it.
The Demon Army had devastated the honor of the Elven race by corrupting some of them into foul beings known as Orcs and used them for everything from cheap labor to basic warriors.
But this world was different. It resisted.
A great alliance of all the free races of Achea was formed to repel the great demon threat.
It seemed impossible. The Demons kept coming. The great wizard Sandro found, after much research and magical effort, that the demons emerged from a large portal that was located on the roof of the world, the Frozen lands of Garabon. Large armies travelled there to destroy the Portal. On the slopes of the Kiyal Glacier a great battle was fought, countless of warriors were lost for all eternity.
After two weeks of fighting, Victory appeared to belong to the Alliance. Sandro, the sorceror who had discovered its location attempted to destroy the portal with powerful magic.

He failed.

Sandro was pulled through the Portal with a Force of tremendous power and vanished.
The Alliance was in despair. Victory was this near, but they could not grab it.
Khal Ralji, the Leader of the Troll Empire of Tuvak'Dulas decided that if no one else had the courage to destroy this Portal Tuvak'Dulas would see it done, he led his entire army into the Portal. Ralij fought a furious battle with the Demons on the other side and managed to destroy the power source of the Portal and it sealed behind them.
The races celebrated victory against the enemy for months. The Empire of Tuvak'Dulas soon fell into ashes and the lands were divided between the Kingdoms of Men.

Now, 600 years later a new evil is being born on the roof of the world and threatens Achea once again...

Dalyn

"Dalyn, do not act in anger. You will soon be a Paladin, anger cannot be a part of what you must do" Sage told Dalyn calmly.
"Of course. Im sorry..." Dalyn looked down at the Orc which he had decapitated in rage. "It wont happen again."
"I hope so. Go back to the camp, Dalyn. I'll see what these Orcs are up to."
Dalyn wanted to say that he could help him but didnt. Sage Truthbringer the Paladin didnt like when people didnt do as they were told. So, Dalyn went back to the camp.

Dalyn Cheas was young man in his mid twenties with long brown hair to his shoulders. He had enlisted into the Paladin's Academy in his hometown of Hearthglen in hopes of helping them to rid the Kingdom, Elenia, from the Orcs that had escaped the Interment Camps, but things werent as he hoped in the Academy. He would mainly sit around in classrooms reading books and learning how to invoke the spells of the Holy Light. Although, he also studied history, maths and all that rubbish.
Occasionaly they would have guest lecturers like the Legendary Dathren the Orcslayer and Rhoran Goodwill.
Dalyn had just recently been deployed to active duty after 5 years of study and were now the Apprentice of the great Sage Truthbringer. One of the greatest Paladins in the land and leader of the Inner Order of the Paladin's Guild, The Lightbringer's Order.

Dalyn never thought he would, but he longed to get get back to Hearthglen. Or, not really the town, but a person. Kayla Darien. The most beautiful girl in the entire land, to hs opinion. He had written her a letter a couple of days ago, but with all the Orc activity around here lately, it wasnt certain if the messenger would get to Hearthglen. But, one could always hope.

Dalyn started thinking of how and why the Orcs had escaped the Internment Territory. They had stayed calm for 600 years. Ever since their Demon masters couldnt aid them anymore. Maybe the Demons had returned? No...Of course not! Thats impossible. And, even more puzzling is...Why in the name of Lightbringer does the Orcs fight eachother? They've never done that before. Oh, well...What did he know? A 25 year old Paladin Apprentice shouldnt care about things like that. He should only do as his superiors tell him to. But Sage liked to answer questions, so Dalyn guessed that that was why he asked so many questions.

As Dalyn arrived at the camp a soldier walked up to meet him.
"Hail there, master Cheas. Where is Lord Truthbringer?" the solder said.
"He's going to sneak around and try to find out what the Orcs are up to" Dalyn replied while switching the weight of his large two-handed axe to the other hand.
The soldier shook his head.
"Crazy old fool. He's getting too old for things like that."
"He's a Paladin, soldier. And hes the best. He'll come back, dont worry."
"Alright, sir. I guess so. Good day." The soldier said and turned away.
Dalyn walked further into the camp and entered his tent, put his axe into his weapons rack and took his armor off. Still with his regular clothes on he lay down on his bed and before he knew it, he was asleep.

Khevajin

"So...Lemme get 'dis straight, mon...You're out huntin'...An' you smell Orcs around. So you go and see what they're up to, an' they are fighting. Eachother!?" Khevajin said doubting his friend Zavikh's story.
"Yah! Im tellin' ya, mon! They were fighting eachother!" Zavikh said.
Khevajin looked at him. Zavikh had never lied to him before. He had exagerrated. Alot. He probably was again.
"You not lyin' to me are ya?" Khevajin asked.
"No! I never lie, Khev."
"But ya exagarrate alot, Zav. You doin' 'dat again?"
"No! Why don' ya believe me?"
"Oh, I don' know. Maybe because the Orcs were created to fight TOGETHER?" Khev said with great sarcasm.
"You check it out yourself, then! I wont go out there again. Too freaky for me."
"Okay, I'll check it, you big liar. Ha-HA!" Khevajin said and turned around and walked out in the Forest.
"Orcs fighten' eachother...HA! Zavikh must be getten' crazy." Khevajin said to himself when he was in the Forest. "Ah, well. I might as well go huntin'."
Khevajin climbed up a tree in a matter of seconds and sniffed the air for a trail of some animal...

There! Got it. A Deer or a Moose. Those two are quite similar.
"Heeeh-heh! The hunt begins..." Khevajin said to himself and climbed down from the tree and started following the smell of hid prey.

He moved silently and swiftly with a throwing spear ready.
This particular animal he was hunting was wounded. He could smell the blood.

After a while he reached his prey. An injured male deer. It looked around nervously, feeling that it was followed and now watched. Khevajin moved slowly in the shadows and was just ready to throw his spear as two Orcs jumped out from the bushes in an attempt to capture the deer. The deer ran away as fast as it could, which was much faster than those two clumsy Orcs.

Those two Orcs had just made a fatal mistake. They had robbed Khevajin, a Forest Troll, of his prey. His eyes bagan to glow red. He put his throwing spear away a unsheathed a Troll Boradsword forged by Ice Trolls from the North. The two Orcs turned around to see Khevajin stepping out of the shadows, about twice their height with his muscles clearly visible and red glowing eyes. Khevajin was affected by Bloodlust. Something that happens to all kinds of Trolls at times.
The Orcs unsheathed small ugly swords and readied themselves for battle.
Khevajin charged.
"Haa'Zaan Chop!" he yelled and decapitated both with one deadly swipe.
A smile ran across his face.
"Looks like I wont be without dinner, anyway." he said and dragged two Orcs away.
