I just wondered if anybody saw Legend of the Rangers on Sky Premier (I think) last weekend. Just wondered what people thought to it if anybody saw it?

I thought it was ok but by no means close to the standard of the original B5 TV series...

A decent enough pilot. At a standalone movie (which it turned out to be), it falls flat.

I think it needed a better storyline...the story arcs of Babylon 5, Crusade and Legend of the Rangers all seem very similar: an old enemy returning blah blah...this was good at first...it created alot of tension and suspense but with Crusade came a repetition of the same story and then again with LotR (I just realised thats the same abbreviation as Lord of the Rings )...

Also, in B5 you never actually saw the Shadows until well into the series yet here they are in LotR (and to some extent, Crusade) appearing in the first episode(s). I think they lost alot of the mystery surrounding them that way...

And the name, "The Hand"...I thought that was a bit lame as well...

Well, Crusade was different----that was the Drahk, who'd been established previously, and the plauge.

Also, the plauge storyline was supposed to be resolved in season 2, just like the Battle of the Line story from B5. From there, it was move to a story about Earth working with Shadowtech.

I know what you mean about the Drakh (Lol, I remember their first appearance in Season 4 where the Drakh Emissary looked like he was break dancing when he walked lol).

I never knew about the storylines being resolved early...perhaps had it been allowed to continue for longer it might've got better.

Personally I think the worst part of Crusade was the music...IMO it was terrible! To me it just sounded like pots and pans being randomly clanged together. Mind you I'm no music wizard myself so perhaps I shouldn't comment...also Chris Frankes music wasn't the best at first although by the end it was excellent..."Sleeping in Light" was the saddest sci-fi episode I've ever seen because of the music alone, never mind the storyline (and that was very sad also)...perhaps Chen's music would have improved over time similarly...

Did you read that short story by JMS (in the UK B5 Official Mag, JMS started printing "canon" short stories in some issues). One of them was about the Titan...Ivanova brought it back to B5 after having telepathic dreams or something (It was half way through Season 5) and they found that it was because it had been infused with shadow tech...they did something with the Vorlon ship they still had in one of the docking bays and got rid of it somehow; I can't really remember it that well...the magazine was discontinued at the end of Crusade and I no longer have the mags...

Some of them were good stories though.
