You have to realize that Viacom (owner of the franchise) expected smooth sailing by just a name. They apparently didn't imagine the backlash the lack of support Star Trek has had over the years. DS9 and TNG were prime shows on Fox. Every Friday night at 9pm. That's in the 'prime time' zone, though at the very end of it. Voyager was in that spot for a year or two, then moved to UPN and that's where Enterprise currently resides. The problem is that not everyone has UPN and moreover, even fewer have heard of it.
Now that Viacom is getting sued by Activision and their likelihood of being successful is very good, I think Viacom and the Paramount heads will try and give renewed creative spark to Star Trek in general, not just the show.
A lawsuite will go a long ways at times.

Yes, but what happened if the trouble continued and Paramount Sudios was sued

Why would they sue Paramount? Paramount gets the funding and go ahead from Viacom. If any show was stagnant, it would be because Viacom refused to give funding or more push.

I'm not sure if they will do another TNG movie.
Riker, Troi and Data are gone. This wouldn't ever be the same.
However, I'm kinda gettin tired of the Baldie...Even if he is a great actor and all.

Hardly. Its a matter of how he wants to be viewed by the world. He doesn't want to be just a TV actor, not like Kirk, errr I mean Shatner. His ambitions lie elsewhere, not just with Trek.

OMG... you believe everything on the internet? Hell, if I told you I worked for Viacom and gave you their phone number, you'd probably believe me. If you know anything about what Patrick Stewart and his works, then you'd see the greater goal he's trying to do.

I think they will make a TNG movie.
Cause if they dont, then I'll write one and mail it to them, and it will be so good they wont be able to refuse it.

there is not going to be another tng movie. the tng movies have all the crew there. even if they transfer data's memory from b4 to another android, it won't be data, and the tng cast isnt the tng cast without data.

if you have seen Nemesis then i think its obvious that if another movie does come out B4 will take the place of Data because they had that memory transfer thing from Data to B4. without Data it wouldn't be the same but B4 is there

Sun Jan 04, 2004 3:08 pm Assume Data is not 'Really' Dead |
|
What about something similar to spock's story? Who knows if Data is really 'dead' maybe he had a plan or something else in his mind, maybe something to do about the other romulan vessels remeber them?
And this is not something new that star trek writers 'imitate' the past - eg: the best of both worls in TNG, and unimatrix zero in VOY; Tomorrow is Yesterday in TOS and Yesterday's Enterprise in TNG.
So maybe we're there and Data is not 'dead'
B-4 can be just a helping hand for the crue to find data back, and why not becoming a family . Well I hope Picard will be back, he MUST be!
What do you think mates?

Nope, we didn't. We saw the ship he was in explode. What if he transported out of there just before it did? What if the Romulans transported him out of there? We may never know... or maybe we will. *shrugs*

That what i was exactly thinking of. maybe the Romulans played with data's brain to go there, save Picard, and then fall in their hands. The thing that romalns where suddenly fighting alongside the enterpise was a bit strange! I dodn't know.
I just have a feeling that Data is not really dead, and it has something to do with the Romulans. Something which will make them attack the Federation, (in next film) and get a lot of help from Data. this is where B-4 may be involved, cos altouh he has not been advanced as much as data (and i think he will never do) but with the memory transfer he can still help the Enterprise get back Data and hold back a Romulan Attack. Romulans where never entered in Star Trek films and this may encourage the writers to write another one involving them, just like the Klingon ones in the other crew's films.

Mon Jan 05, 2004 1:52 pm What about Capt. Riker and the Starship Titan |
|
Capt. Riker and the Starship Titan
Seems like a good leaping point to me.We know the character his abilities as a tactical commander and it still leaves a wide opening for cameos and re-appearances,perhaps involving a story regarding talks of Romulan entrance into the Federation and the heroic thwarting of hostile opposing factions...Sela perhaps?
As far as the DATA / B4 outcome...the new character
will become a fusion of a more simplistic character, a mechanical human being as apposed to a humanoid computer with a pinnochio syndrome. In essence B4 wil feel human and desire to emultate his brothers technical abilities...Full character reversal.Thats if Brent was to resume the character as rumors have indicated
Personally I'd love to see the Titan and Riker in the Big Chair cross communicating with as many DS9,Voyager and TNG characters as budget could afford. Rikers 1st officer....Harry Kim ? any thoughts?

I just cannot agree with you saying there will be no other film with this crew - due to this simple fact: Remeber Star Trek Generations? - what was its aim - to cross by the old crew with the new crew - at least it must be the same with the TNG crew no??
