I've got it but prefer Ashes of Eden...I'm not that big a fan of either Picard or Kirk and only got it 'cos it was cheap but it was pretty good. I couldn't really get into the Cochrane storyline until the latter half of the book though.

Also, I thought the Enterprise D ramming the Romulan Warbird was reminiscent of Nemesis...although that should be other way round as Federation was released before Nemesis...but you know what I mean...

It's a good book considering it's non-canon.

Can anybody recommend any good TOS books? I've gotten a little bored of reading Voyager and DS9 etc. I've not read many; Ashes of Eden and In the Name of Honor (I think that's its name)...

Hey thanks. I looked but couldn't see it...the only TOS books they had in WHS when I went were "Garth of Izor", "In the Name of Honor", "Captain's Peril" (or something) but none of them really appealed to me.

Instead I got a couple of Steven Coonts books, "America" and "Fortunes of War"...it was 2 for 10 so I treated myself lol.

I like it, as well as "avenger" "dark victory" "captain's peril" and the rest in those series, however I have not yet read "preserver" or any book in the captain's peril series past the one previously named...

I think in Shatner's books he tries to make Kirk constantly the star of the show...making him almost superhuman in some books...He's rolling round, beating people up and he must be nearly 60, perhaps even 70 in some of them...

lol, good point, another good one is "stv:mosiac" or "stv:pathways".
and if you haven't seen all the movies, you can probably find a great many of them in a second hand store(for example penny pinchers, value village, and a small privately owned place in kamloops, b.c. canada called quick cash)

I've read Pathways...thought it was really good - a much thicker read and consequentially a much better one IMO. I didn't like the bit about Janeway wearing rings though...I was thinking she doesn't wear rings, she never wears rings lol...but it was all explained lol...
