I like SG-1 alot better than the movie. Not to say I didn't like the movie. Have you noticed that they don't have nearly as many inconsistencies as Trek?

^An eighth season of SG1 is a virtual certainty.
What's in doubt is whether the planned big-screen "Stargate 2" featuring the SG1 cast will happen. Apparently the original script for it is being reformatted to be the season 7 finale two-parter instead.
While the movie was good, the series is *so* much better. Its everything that Enterprise should be-----a story about mankind's first steps into space, with characters who viewers can directly relate to.

Its set in the present day, not the future, and instead of Starfleet, its the United States Air Force.
Basically, a "Stargate" was discovered buried in Egypt, which is capable of establishing wormholes to Gates on other planets. The USAF runs it as a black op, retrieving alien technology to build defenses for Earth against the parasitic aliens, the Goa'uld.
At this point in the series, the Russian government knows about the Stargate, and its existence was recently divulged to Great Britain and China as well. However, its still secret from the general public.
What's possibly the most interesting thing is, that while there are a few alien races, most of the people encountered on other worlds are humans who were taken from Earth by the Goa'uld many centuries ago. The Goa'uld control their subjects by pretending to be gods. In particular, many of the ancient Egyptian gods were actually Goa'uld.
At the start of the series, the main enemy is Apophis. Currently, the big bad is Anubis. However, there have been many other Goa'uld seen, including Heruir, Osiris, Baal, Sokar, and Lord Yu.
Its based on the movie Stargate, in which Ra was defeated. While those events took place in the series' backstory, most of the characters were recast.
Seasons 1-3 are out on DVD in region 1, much cheaper than the Trek DVDs. I think region 2 already has seasons 1-6 on DVD, while region 4 just got season 2. The pilot episode has brief nudity, but that's the only instance in the series.

I love it. Generally, it's a clean show, and the plot is awesome. I even got my friend hooked on it.

i love stargate sg-1 cause its not like any other sci-fi show its ctually set in the present day and its also really funny.ive watched stargate ever since it started and i know loads of stuff about the show, the actors and their characters.I thought the movie was ok but the movie jack was too serious and james spader's daniel looked more geeky than series Daniel and they didnt have sam or tealc and sams my fave charcater so thats why i probly didnt like it as much.
Im pretty positive therte will be an eigth season.

i think ppl liked the movie less cause that jack was humourlous and kurt russell isnt as cool as richjrd den anderson nd james spader was too geeky abnd wasnt as sexy as michael shanks but the movie was good it just had a totally differant atmosphere to the series with the movie you had tonnes of characters but with the series you have a small cast of 6 main characters richard dean anderson, michael shanks, amanda tapping, chris judge,don.s.davis and teryl rothery so i like it being a nice small cast.

The series is awesome. I'd have to say my favorite episode was the one where Jack and Tiok (or however you spell his name) got caught in that time loop.

his name is spelt teal'c and that episodes called window of oppitunity and its episode 4.6 and it is a very funny episode everytime i talk to someone who loves stargate they always mention window of oppitunity its just so popular with the kiss and the golf and the juggling its not an ep youd take seriously its just a relief of humour and summin the actors and crew wanted to do for a long time.

The movie was ok but it could have been better. They should of had a bigger fight with the borg and the boy shouldn't have been taken as a host. The series well there's not anything you can say bad about it it is the bst. And the sg web site is not as good as it usta be.
