I liked the episode where quark and sompany go to Empok Nor. I'm a big fan of ds9, and it was kinda creepy to see the sister station which was in it's post-cardassian-trashing condition. It was like, whoa, alternate reality here? I dont know, I just got shivers when I thought, hey, Ds9 could have still been rotting away like this if Starfleet hadnt decided to restore it...

Empok Nor, the Romulans once called Deep Space 9 that once too, when there were trying to take the station over and sisko was explaining what they(romulans) were trying to do.

Ya, DS9 was Terok Nor, and her sister station was Empock nor.
One thing I don't understand, they were both built as mining stations in orbit of planetsbut I don't remember Empock nor being in orbit of any planet it was just there in the middle of empty space, what did it mine?

I think is mined some of the minerals ship delieved to the station, or maybe it was built but never used.

They could of, but the Empok Nor was also a good Weapons platform to stop any ships from going and coming, thats why they mit have not put it around a planet

Empok Nor, was taken over by Dukat for his Pah-Wraith Cult Community... apparently the Cardassian/Domion stopped caring about it

To answer your questions the looks of DS9 and Terok Nor is same but there are differences where I'll explain.
Terok Nor orbits Bajor when the cardasians were in power but...
DS9 no longer orbits Bajor because they moved it to the wormhole to stake their claim to it.
This is Empok Nor its abbondned in another system the crew of DS9 used the station for spare parts when they need it.
The only other difference I can see is that DS9 also uses some Federation Technology because the Cardasians tore Terok Nor apart before they left. I hope this helps alittle
