(as posted on TRS)

T3 is a welcomed movie inspite of the latest horde of mixed review movies and cheesy plot lines. This year, though, following three great movies (Bruce Almighty, Reloaded, and X-2), will definately be a summer of the machines.

We all know John Conner and last saw him growing up somewhat, with his nut job of a mom, Sarah (played by Cameron's ex wife and star of T1) and hoped that if Judgement day had been stopped, the world would live happily ever after. Right?

Fast forward ten years later to an older John, somewhat wiser John, and even more nuts than his mother. He starts the movie with a narration about what happens, what did happen, and in the end, finishes with what had happened after the encounter with T-X and the third T-101 from the future. Does that interest you yet?

The movie takes some interesting comical twists and loaded with action. In fact, the first thirty minutes has more action than T2 did by the time you get halfway through with the movie. Want a car chase scene for those car lovers? Well, forget cars - we're talking monster vehicles like a crane lift chasing a Toyota pickup while a firetruck goes nuts on it before falling victim to the arsenal of the T-X. And that arsenal is very intense!

The story becomes much more developed after the first chase scene and even more so after the graveyard scene. Details that you didn't know are realized and that in fact, it wasn't that they stopped the terminator in the first two that would be the end of skynet and so much more. It all comes to a startling conclusion when the head out west to the Mojave desert... and the rise of the machines is inevitable.

Overall, the story ended with something more to be desired. Though Hollywood certainly added the all time twister with the startling revelation of 'you can't do *beep* no matter how hard you try', you do see the setup for a few more T movies, though doubtful that James Cameron will even want to direct the next couple, since T3 he woefully declined. It asks the question though of, if you travel back in time, would the inevitable happen anyways, if you avoid or purposely take things away.

8/10

Must see TV!
