PostMon Jun 16, 2003 10:51 pm    deck question

Okay, on the refit constitution class Enterprise, there are 23 decks according to cannon. Now, on the movie "the Final Frontier", when kirk spock and mccoy are rocketing up through the ship, the deck numbers shoot up into the seventies. Is this just a goof in the movie or am I just going crazy?

No, your not having problems. Throughout the entire Original Series and it's movies, there are constant errors, ESPECIALLY with Movie #5. I tend not to pay attention to them, just watch it. Which is really really hard.

*snickers, reviving the thread*

This one is easily explained.

Yes, the Enterprise refit has 23 decks. That's an official number.

However, if you were a film producer and you wanted to show that they were going a long distance in a short amount of time, would the number 23 really give it that 'Ooooooooh. Ahhhhhhhhhhh.' feel?

Nope. That's why Kirk, Spock, and McCoy all ended their journey on deck 73. ^_^

Maybe the deck number readout was messed up and our trio didn't think to consider that the Enterprise wasn't really that big before trusting what the turbolift told them.

No guys, that's the real answer ---> They just screwed up.

Shatner isn't a good director.

I know that. It's called sarcasm. Besides, it could happen...

Well if I were actually on the ship and I was in the turbolift with the knowledge that there were in fact only 23 decks and I started seeing numbers above and beyond possibility (in the world as we define it) I'd start freaking out majorly. The first thing I'd do would be to vaporize everyone's beds..........don't ask me why. I really don't have an answer to that......

I'd vaporize their pants!

I mean, nobody, would have pants!

0 Pants.

They'd walk around in underwear, shorts, or dresses.
