Data has already temporary commanded a starship in one of the TNG episiodes and did a very good job of it.I think if he was to attend command school he would pass that with flying colors and be the best captain in all of starfleet with time.He has a near vulcan personality and doesnt have to worry unless he activates his emotion chip, and that gives him a fearless command structure that would prove useful in any situation.
I like data over picard...

I am going with Data because although he's emotionless he is humorous sometimes...and Data is just as respected as Picard is. In my eyes, Data knows more about Starfleet probably then Picard, so he's better.

Well, this is merely a very controversial subject, because I need a time frame on which to work. I'll go with Data right before he sacrificed himself.
Picard - Human, "Intuition", Emotions
Data - Android, Logical Subroutines, A somewhat Intution, Emotion Chip
Frankly, Data is better than Picard, but Picard beats the pants off of Data in some catagories. Can you image how the battle with the Schimitar would have gone if Data were in command of the vessel?

Picard definately. Unless it came to which one was funnier, then it would be Data.

I think Data would make a good captain because he knows the ship just as much as picard does so my vote goes to data. (but janeway beats out both of them because she is the best of all time)

Tim McGraw is the sexiest man in counrty music! (just ask the country music critics they will tell you. You could also ask his lovley wife Faith Hill)!
