Thu Jun 12, 2003 2:50 am (For all u who can't handle an opinion)I DISLIKE Enterprise! |
|
Anyone hate Enterprise as much as I do? I keep trying to give it a try but the episodes are rediculously lame...tonight Archer helps a colony of dueterium processors fight the big bad bully Klingons. Sheesh! Oh yeah, I saw the Vulcans on Earth episode...who believes that a Vulcan could live among us without any one knowing he was Vulcan? I saw some of the first episodes...not a damned thing worth watching...truly this is the saddest incarnation of Star Trek ever...

It is sad at times. The ship design is the worst design I have seen. Maybe things will pick up in the third season.
BERMAN, YOU CAN'T MAKE A SERIES BACK IN TIME FROM VOYAGER, ONLY FORWARD!!!!! (sorry, had to do it)

I thought that at the start of Season 1 Enterprise was looking really great. But towards the end of Season 1 (With the exception of Shockwave) and throughout the first half of Season 2 it seemed to get worse. However, after seeing the latter half of Season 2 I have to say I think it is getting better.
The episode "Marauders" with Enterprise helping the miner people against the Klingons is one of the ones I hated the most; that and A Night in Sickbay.
I think the ship design is excellent although it doesn't suit the time frame in which it's set. I think it would be much better (and consistent) if it were something along the lines of the Daedalus-class. Although the Daedalus was put into production after the Romulan Wars I would've hoped for some similarities between the two being incorporated into Enterprise - some features on Enterprise that would have been developed for the Daedalus. For example, a sphere rather than the saucer section...
As it is, the NX-01 looks more advanced than the Enterprise 1701...

It doesnt have shields and is only capable of warp 5. Its crap compared to Enterprise 1701. Aesthetically pleasing but crap!

The thing that really gets me is that every single piece of 24th century technology, with the exception of holodecks, has an exact analog in ENT.
No shields, but "polarized hull plating" does the same darned thing.
No photons, just "photonic torpedoes".
No phasers, just "phase cannons".
I mean, really. What it means is that space combat is *boring*. We've seen it done this way before, and it looks exactly like it does in the 24th C. I wish they could have actually done something different for once......
I miss Firefly.

Well, I'm not really bothered about what speed it can go at 'cos that sort of thing changes...like in a couple of years they'll probably realise by sticking a spanner into the engine they can go to Warp 6...the reason I like it is, like you say, for the way it looks.
I see what you mean Lindley - I hadn't thought about it like that before but you're very right. I can't think of anything new that Enterprise has to offer...at all...

I don't think it is lame; it's my fave Trek ship along with the Defiant.
My order of fave ships:
1. Enterprise NX-01 or USS Defiant
2. Voyager
3. Enterprise E
4. Runabout/ Delta Flyer

Well I think Enterprise is Star Trek - and I like Star Trek so I like Enterprise, I like it more than DS9 if I am honest.

ENT's ok. No where near as good as VOY (my fave, go Janeway!) yet in my view it is better then TOS and DS9.

Exactly...that IS MY OPINION! I thought, this being a free forum to discuss opinions, that I could share without being attacked by immature people. It's my opinion and I wondered who else shared it...

Oh yeah, ummm...I don't like Star Trek...that could be why I have hundreds of dollars in books and merchandise from the shows...that's why I can name any episode after thirty seconds of watching it...that's why I stay up til all hours of the morning to watch movies. First off, shut your mouth if you don't know what you are talking about. Second, yes I have a Star Wars avatar...sue me. I happen to like all SCI FI...Lord of the Rings, Dune, Star Trek etc. I just think Enterprise is a half ass excuse for a Star Trek series.

Yes you are intitled to your opion but if you don't like enterprise then you shouldn't be in the enterprise topic.

That's kinda sad that you've devoted all your time and life to Star Trek...
No worries, if I wasn't an FF junkie, I'd do the same thing.
On the other hand, maybe you're expectation of Enterprise is what killed the mood of the show for you. Maybe in season 3, don't expect anything other than a show. Then maybe you'll like it a little better.

I want you all to cool down. Everyone is welcome in this forum, whether they like ENT or not. Debate is a good thing. Can you imagine how boring this place would be if everyone had the same opinions? There'd be nothing to talk about!
For the record, my avatar isn't from Star Wars. It was unclear who Tim was referring to.

Didn't Voyager get a mixed reaction when that show was first aired? I didn't have the internet at the time so I don't really know what the viewer reaction was.

^Yes, it did, any it still gets a mixed reaction today. This board, due to its name, has mostly Voyager fans so its not very evident. However, most other Trek boards on the web have a notable percentage of Trekkers who refuse to even acknowledge Voyager's existence.

Really?
I always thought that Voyager was generally held as the best of the Treks.

The fanbase is definately split. There are those who only like TOS, some who think TNG is the best, a large number who worship DS9, and some who love Voyager. Then, of course, there's lots of folks who like them all.
