Has anyone read the Dune series of books? I remember seeing the movie when I was younger but was never very interested. recently, I bought Dune and have been reading non-stop. I'm reading God Emperor now...They are well written and very intricate books.

I never saw the two-hour movie, but I did like Scifi's six-hour Dune miniseries, as well as the six-hour Children of Dune mini.
I've read Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune; God Emperor is on my shelf, and I'll get to reading it soon.

So you know, part 1 of Children of Dune is actually based on Dune Messiah.
Only parts 2 and 3 are actually based on Children of Dune the book.
Most of the actors are the same as in Scifi's Dune miniseries, althought Lady Jessica and Stilgar were both recast.
It may be of interest that CoD's Lady Jessica is played by Alice Krige, whom you may recall as the Borg Queen in First Contact and Endgame. She only has one scene in part 1, but plays a much bigger role in parts 2+3.

I thought the SI Fi channel adaptation of Dune was well done, but the follow up, Dune Messiah/Children of Dune, felt rushed and condensed. Sadly, I'm led to believe that there will be no God Emperor adaptation for the Sci Fi channel. I was looking forward to another even if the CoD was less than perfect.

^Where did you hear that? I was under the impression that God Emperor still might happen. Unless Viacom buys Scifi, of course.
