Here is my story entitled Journey from home: Travelling great lengths for a family: Part 1. Please read it and give your suggestions in on my website, http://invisionfree.com/forums/Star_Trek_Fan_Fic/index.php?act=ST&f=14&t=4&s=02a686c1179fc76c7b71a27eb621fc96.

Here it goes-
It is June 1st. I have just awoken from my 304 day hibernation. The ship is within 3000km of Aearth, and uninhabited planet in the same orbit as Earth. I pull myself from my white mattress, and it slides into the wall as the automated computer bids me good morning. I reply with a simple nod, and then command the window to be opened. It promptly opens, and in its view I see the planet we are approaching. It is beautiful, the clouds covering the sunlight half of the planet, with mountain peaks popping up out from the clouds at random locations. I sit down in the steel chair in front of my desk. The computer display turns itself on, sensing that I am near. I pull up information on the planet. It is covered in lush green forests, with only one valley that is not covered in trees. That is the landing location.
These trees are almost 5000 ft tall, with the trunks being up to 500 ft thick at the bottom. For the next three hours, I study the tree formations, looking for any patterns, finding none. The 6 hour day is almost over, and I command the computer to bring the bed out. It promptly complies, and the bed comes sliding out from the wall. I lie down in it, wondering about my family. As sleep overcomes me, I have one final thought: Is this planet suited for us to move onto?
It is June 2nd. I have awoken and prepared the first meal of the 12 hour day. As I sit at my desk eating the tube of watermelon and grape fluid, I cannot once again help but think of my family back on Earth. When I left, my little brother was just 3 days old, but by now he is entering his teenage days. If it does take 304 days to get back, he will probably not be alive for me to meet. He will have passed on into a being of supreme power, and he will not be given the sane chance I was. I will have the chance to save all life on Earth. If I succeed, a large transport will bring my family and all the animals of the Earth to this new place. But If I do not succeed, I will be destined to either live on this planet for eternity, or search for a new planet and hope, that when I find a suitable planet, my family will still remember me. I finish my meal and move towards the window. In it I see the planets dark side, the side I will be landing on. It is a lush green forest, with a barely discernable clearing, the only clearing on the planet. It is covered in small bushes and some smaller trees, and spotted with red apples that have fallen off of the large trees surrounding the clearing.
