This story has no chapters, so i will be writing it all at once. It occurs right after the events of the movie Generations.
The Beginning of the End
Veridian 3. Captain Picard shielded his eyes from the glare of the sun. He looked down at the tritanium plating under his feet. The faded letters USS Enterprise caught his eye. "Picard to transporter chief, beam me to the bridge of the Enterprise." said Picard. "What's left of it he mumbled to himself." He saw the sun fade as he rematerialized on the bridge of the Enterprise. So many things had happened over the past few days, and he had so many new thoughts, but Picard could only think of one person,Kirk. Picard entered his ready room and looked around for his photo album. Riker walked in and asked, "Need any help, sir?" "No, I think I found it."said Picard. "Found what, sir?"asked Riker. "It's my photo album." said Picard. "Ah, I see." said Riker. Commander Riker knew about Rene, Picard's nephew, who had died. Commander Riker silently left and waited on the bridge. When Picard came out, riker said, "I always wanted that chair." "Oh, there will be another one." said Picard, referring to the Enterprise. "Picard to DeSoto, two to beam up." At Starfleet Command, Captain Picard gave Admiral Liu a full report. Liu told Picard that there was already a new ship bearing the name Enterprise, and that it would have only been some time before the Enterprise D was retired. The new Enterprise was a Sovereign class vessel with four torpedo bays that had photon and quantum torpedoes, a wide phaser array, and a whole new design. Admiral Liu asked Captain Picard if he wanted to start the shakedown cruise immediately, or if Picard wanted to wait a little while. Picard decided to wait for two days so Picard could brief his senior officers on the new ship. They were to patrol the Romulan Federation Border, because there were some strange activities. Suddenly, a Borg cube approached at high warp. Red alert sirens blared all over the ship.

"Looks like we get to test the defensive capabilities of the Sovereign class sooner than we had thought." said Commander Riker. "Yes, we have been put in an interesting situation." said Picard, but something bothered him, what were the borgdoing this close to Romulan territory? The borg ship flew right past the Enterprise. "Follow that ship, but maintain your distance, Lieutenant Hawk." said Picard. "I'll be in my ready room. Number One, will you please join me?" In the ready room, Picard asked Riker, "What do you think the Borg are doing going right into Romulan territory?" "I'm not sure, but it can't be good. I just hope it's not---."
"Captain to the bridge." said Data over the communications. "They are meeting with a Romulan warbird!" exclaimed Worf. "What are they doing with the Romulans?" asked Riker. "Have they done anything that would indicate that they detected us?" asked Picard.

"No sir, they have not." replied Data. "Can you tap into their transmission,Data?" asked Picard "Yes, I believe I can." said Data. "Do it." said Picard. (On the screen) "Can we take on the Federation successfully?" asked a Romulan commander. "Affirmative, their technological and biological distinctiveness will be added to our own, resistance will be futile."said a Borg drone. "What about Captain Picard?" asked the Romulan. "Locutus of Borg will be reassimilated into the collective." said the drone. "Yes, but what about the information he possesses?" asked the Romulan. "All relevant information will be relayed directly to you." the drone answered. "Good, when will phase one begin?" asked the Romulan. "Immediately." said the drone. "Commander, there is a Federation vessel five-thousand kilometers away. I think that it has tapped into our communications!" a Romulan officer exclaimed. "Cut the transmission and cloak. NOW!" Suddenly both ships disappeared, one cloaked and the other in warp. "Well that was interesting." said Riker. "Yes it was." said Picard, "but why would the Borg work with the Romulans and not just assimilate them." "I don't know, but we should contact Starfleet Command." said Riker. "Good idea. Data, send a copy of the transmission to Starfleet Command." said Picard. "Captain, I am receiving strange transmissions from one million kilometers ahead."said Data "Lieutenant Hawk, set a course."

"Sir, they appear to be massing in a nebula. They would only be found if someone was looking for them, as we are. There are several Borg cubes that appear to be connecting to each other, making one giant cube." said Data. "Yes, now I see why the Borg prefer the shape of the cube, so if it becomes necessary, they can attatch and make one big cube." said Picard. "Lieutenant Hawk, I want you to set a course to earth, maximum warp. Bridge to Main Engineering." said Picard. "LaForge here, sir" said LaForge.(sorry about the repetition) "I want you to give us as much power as you can muster for the warp engines. Take it out of nonessential systems if you have to, but just give us more speed." said Picard. "All right, Captain, but we may have to watch the structural integrity fields, just in case. LaForge out." said LaForge. "Lieutenant Commander Worf, I want you to contact Admiral Hanson, and tell him about the events that have just transpired, and tell him that we're coming back to earth. Also tell him to set up a defense of ships, then put some others around the moon so their signatures will be masked. I want to get the Borg and the Romulans trapped so they can't get out." said Picard. "Aye, sir, sending message now." said Worf. "Sir, we will be at earth in exactly one hour." said Lieutenant Hawk. "Thank You, Lieutenant. I will be in my ready room."

That's it for now. Oh yeah, there will only be one story because I forgot the other, that is unless I remember the other one.

"Data to Picard, please come to the Bridge. We are approaching earth." siad Data over the in-ship communications. "I'm on my way." said Picard. "Send Starfleet Command the logs of the communications and following, and then hail them." said Picard. The picture of a grave Admiral Hanson flashed up on the screen. "We are going to be putting up a defense of ships at the moon, so if any ships get damaged, they will be repaired. I want you to lead the defense against the Borg, and Captain Calhoun of the Excalibur will lead the defense against the Romulans. I do not expect this to go without many casualties, but I trust Captain Calhoun's and your abilities to defeat the Romulans and the Borg." said Hanson. "What if the Borg and the Romulans fight together in one group?" asked Picard. "Then Captain Calhoun's fleet will come over and fire on Romulan ships. We have some other ships hiding behind the sun so if you can maneuver the Borg so that their backs are to the sun, we may be able to beat the Borg, then you can help with the Romulans. They would be overwhelmed. The Borg ships will be here in one hour. I want you to be ready by then." said Hanson. "Yes, sir." said Picard.

Sorry its been so long since I last wrote. We were very busy with school and all.

"Captain, I am picking up multiple warp signatures. They are the Borg and the Romulans." said Data. "Red alert, shields up!" exclaimed Picard. "Aye, redalert, shields up." said Worf. "The Borg are changing their course. It is an intercept course to us." said Data. "Lieutenant Hawk, lay in evasive maneuver Riker-Tango 8." said Riker. "Aye, sir. Riker-Tango 8." said Hawk. "Mr. Worf, open fire on the cube." said Picard. (Remember that the cubes conected together to make one big cube.) "Aye, sir, opening fire." said Worf. "Lieutenant Hawk, get them so that they are in between us and the sun, but do it slowly." said Picard. "Aye, sir." said Hawk. "What is the condition of the other fleet?" asked Picard. "They are inflicting minor damage on the Romulans, and the Romulans are inflicting minor damage also." said Data. "Sir, the Borg is between the sun and us." said Hawk. "Very good. Mr.Worf, hail the ships around the sun, and tell them to come out and meet our guests." said Picard. "Aye, sir. Hailing. They have responded, and are coming from behind the sun." said Worf. "Sir, there are some strange readings coming from the Borg cube." said Data. "What kind of readings?" asked Riker. "Well, before sir, the Borg cube registered as one ship, but now it is registering as many ships, but it is not coming apart." said Data. "This can't be good. Worf, tell all the ships to watch and make sure that they don't get destroyed if the cube separates." said Picard. "Aye, sir." siad Worf. "Sir, the Borg cube is breaking up." siad Data. "send a general hail to all ships! Regroup around earth and set up a larger defense perimeter.!" exclaimed Picard. "Aye sir." siad Worf. "Sir, all the ships are now in a defensive perimeter around earth." said Data. "Good." said Picard. "Sir." said Data. "What is it, Mr. Data?" asked Picard. "The Borg and Romulans are moving in." said Data.

Sorry for the delay in posting for this. Forgot all about it.

"All hands, battle stations. Inform the fleet to concentrate their fire on the weaker ships, then move to the stonger ones." said Picard. "Aye, Captain. Sending message to the fleet now." said Worf. "On my mark, open fire. 3...2...1...Mark. Fire all weapons." said Picard. "Firing all weapons." said Worf. The target has sustained heavy damage, and will no longer be able to fight, Captain." said Data. "Good. Concentrate all fire on the next ship." said Picard. The ship rocks, as Borg cutting beams tear across the shields. "Damage report!" exclaimed Picard. "Minimal damage to weapons, but inertial dampeners are heavily damaged." said Data. "Well, that would explain the intense jolt we just got there." said Riker. "Captain, we have disabled the ship. The next vessel of target is a Borg sphere." said Data. "Worf, send a message to the fleet to choose their own targets, and fire at them. Don't fire at a ship that someone else is firing at." said Picard. "Aye, sir. Sending message. They have responded. Several ships are switching targets." said Worf. Suddenly, three Borg cubes surround the Enterprise. Escape is a very slim chance. What happens, well, you'll find out later.

I'm glad so many people liked my story.

*Sigh* Is anyone reading this? If not, I'm probably gonna stop.

The Enterprise crew is desperatley trying to think pf a way to get out of this mess, when suddenly one of the ship's blows up, then a second one. "What happened?" asked Riker. :I don't know, but lets take advantage of it. Fire all torpedoes at the reamining ship." siad Picard. "Aye, sir. Direct hit. The ship is salvageable, but I wouldn't-. What? There is an energy buildup in the main core. It's a self-distruct." siad Worf. "Helm, get us out of the blast radius. Now!" ordered Picard. "Aye sir. We are now out of the blast radius." said Hawk as the last Borg ship blew up. "Sir, we are being hailed by the Defiant. Apparently they cloaked, attacked the cube, then recloaked." said Worf. "Send them our deepest gratitude." said Picard. "Aye sir." said Worf. "Mr. Data, what is the current status of the fleet?" asked Picard. "Sir, only two ships are damaged to the point where they cannot fight. They have retreated back to earth for repairs. The rest of the ship have sustained little or no damage." siad Data. "What about the Borg/Romulan fleet?" asked Picard. "They have susatained heavy damage. Half of the romulan fleet as been destroyed, and there are only a few Borg ships left, all spheres." siad Data. "Mr. Worf. Send a message to the fleet to have some of the ships to go around back of the other fleet. We'll try to crush them. Send the stronger ones." said Picard. "Aye, Captain. Sending message. They have responded and are proceeding." "Good. In the mean time, take out as may Borg ships as you can. Maybe the Romulans will surrender when they see how we devastated the Borg." *On a Romulan ship* Commander, I highly suggest that we surrender once the Borg ships are destroyed. You know the Humans. They will be lenient. They won't kill us if we surrender." said a Romulan sub-commader. "Never! We will fight. Even if it means dying, we will not be taken prisoner. And you know we will not be able to return to Romulan space. We would be killed on sight. Now, get back to your station, or you will be thrown in the brig for treason!" said the commander. Will Cpatain Picard's idea work. Who knows. Think of something, and then you'll see later on.

But, I would like to know if anyone is reading this. Please tell me.

"Captain, we have surrounded the Romulans and the Borg. There is only one sphere left, which is being targeted. It has been destroyed." said Worf. "Mr. Worf, patch me throught to the lead Romulan vessel." said Picard. "Aye sir. Hailing frequencies open. they are responding." said Worf "Romulan commander, do you wish to surrender?" asked Picard. "Ahhh. The 'great' Captain Picard and his 'great' vessel the Enterprise. I would have guessed that Starfleet would put you in charge of the fleet." said the Commander. "Well, I seem to be at a disadvantage. You know my name, but I don't know yours." said Picard. "My name is Commander Rehklam." said Rehklam. "Well, Commander Rehklam, do you wish to surrender to us, or do you wish to continue fighting. Either way, we will still defeat you. We outnumber you, the Borg are gone, and I know for a fact that all of your cloaking devices are malfunctioning. It's only a matter of time." said Picard "Try as you may to get us to surrender, we will not budge, but we have a small surprise for you." Suddnely a new fleet of Romulan ships decloaked, coming at the fleet. "You will not survive against these fresh Warbirds." said Rehklam. "Mr. Worf, end communications. Tell the fleet to regroup next to Earth. That's where we'll make our last stand. Helm, take us to Earth." said Picard. "All of the ships have responded and are moving toward Earth." siad Data. "Time until they intercept us?" asked Picard. "Two minutes, Captain." said Data. Whats going to happen to the Enterprise, and Earth. Who knows? (Besides me, of course

"How many ships are ther now?" asked Picard "There are 20 Romulan ships that are considered a threat." said Data. "Mr. Worf, take out the starionger ones as they uncloak, then take the weaker ones." said Picard. "Aye sir. they are decloaking. We have taken out 5 more." said Worf. "Good. How many more are there at full capacity. or close to it, Mr. Data?" asked Picard. "The remaiming 15 are all damaged." said Data. "Well, that will make our job easier." said Riker "Yes it will." said Picard. "Cpatain, I sense that there is more going on than we can see here." said Troi. "What do you mean, Counselor?" asked Picard. "Well, sir, it's as if this is a distraction. Maybe it's just they know I'm a Betazoid, and they're thinking that. They are disciplined mentally." said Troi "I certainly hope that thats the case." said Picard. "Sir, we are being hailed by the lead Romulan ship." said Worf. "On screen, Mr. Worf. Ah, Commander Rehklam, it's good to see you again." said Picard "Captain Picard, we wish to give you terms of surrender." said Rehklam. "I need to talk with my crew about this. Mr.Worf, end transmission. Counselor?" said Picard. "He doesn't want to surrender, he has some other motive, but I don't know what it is." said Troi. "Put Commander Rehklam back on, Mr. Worf." said Picard. "Aye sir. Sir! the Romulan ships are all moving in! They are going to self-destruct!" exclaimed Worf. "Get us out of here!" exclaimed Picard. "Too late! They have been destroyed. We have beat them." said Worf. "Yes, but at a high cost. A very high cost." said Picard
*2 days later*
"Admiral, I have the report for you." said Picard. "Very good, you can leave." said the Admiral. *On the Enterprise* I'm certainly glad that that perdicament is over, Number 1." said Picard. "As am I." said Riker. "Number 1, you have the bridge, I'm going to my ready room." *In Picard's ready room* Picard is looking at the picture of Rene. "Such high hopes, but now they're all gone. Good journeys, Rene." said Picard. "Good Journeys"
