Why should I be defined,
By who society expects me to be?
I have my own choice, I am my own voice,
I’ll be who I want to be.
Expressionless attire distorts society’s image,
Conformity succumbs to normalcy.
Since when was a man so blatantly scrutinized
By the shoes he wears on his feet?
My thoughts are my own, my views are the same,
My style is defined by me.
I choose what I wear, wear what I choose,
I create my own identity.
Barred from acceptance are many of those souls,
Who refuse to be just another clone.
The ones who make it a choice to stand out,
Rather than be another conformist drone.
To err is human, someone once said,
With that I must agree.
If to err means to be different than your peer’s expectations,
Then that is truely what to be human is to me.
