PostTue Jan 07, 2003 11:18 pm    Star Trek: Voyager: Nightfire

This is the VERY first part, so that's why it's short.

Lieutenant Tom Paris stepped into the mess hall and made his way towards the kitchen.
"Ah, Mr. Paris," said Neelix, the ships Talaxian morale officer, "so good to see you! Is there anything I can get you?"
"Ah, just give me a cup of coffee, Neelix." said Paris.
"So Tom," began Neelix as he poured the lieutenant's coffee, "How's married life?" He handed Tom his cup of coffee.
Paris took a sip of his coffee. "I wish I knew." Tom said. "B'Elanna's been so busy in engineering I haven't been able to spend any time with her."
"Well, I'm sure you two will figure something out." Said Neelix. As Tom took another sip of his coffee, ensign Harry Kim entered the mess hall and sat next to Paris.
"What are you doing tonight after your shift?" asked the young ensign.
"Why do you ask?" asked Tom, "Oh, wait, let me guess. You have another holodeck program that you're just dyeing to show me."
"Lucky guess." said Kim.
Tom put down his coffee and looked at him. "what is it this time?" he asked. "An encounter with the Borg, a brush with Species 8472...no, let me guess, imprisonment by the lustrious women of Centaron 5."
"Even better." said Harry.
"Better than women of Centaron 5? You're kidding me." Tom poked fun at him.
"I thought you were a married man." said Harry.
"That doesn't mean I can't have a little fun, does it?" Paris replied.
"Anyway," continued Harry, "I've created a program where you are the captain. You get to give orders, make decisions..."
"Drink black coffee?" kidded Tom.
"That too." said Kim. "So what do you say? I've reserved some time on Holodeck 2."
"Well, I'd love to Harry," said Tom, "but B'Elanna said she's taking some time off tonight so we can have a nice, relaxing dinner. Maybe next time." With that, he finished his coffee, got up, and said, "Have fun...Captain." He then made his way out of the mess hall and to the bridge.

Thanks. If I can tonight, I'll post the next segment. (The segments are small, but it's easier to do than long chapters.

The stern, calm Vulcan Tuvok made his way down the corridor and into sickbay.
"Commander," said the ship's holographic doctor, "What can I do for you?" Tuvok made his way to a medical bed and sat down.
"I am not well." said the Vulcan. The Doctor noticed that he was perspring slightly.
"What are your symptoms?" The Doctor asked, walking to the counter to pick up a medical tricorder. He made his way back to Tuvok and began scanning him.
"I am experiencing acute disorientation, as well as a loss of appetite." explained Tuvok.
"Have you been sleeping well?" The Doctor asked.
"I have not been sleeping."
"Well, no wonder," said The Doctor. "You're exhausted, Tuvok. You've got to get some rest."
"I have not been able to sleep for the past couple of days." said Tuvok. The Doctor stopped his scanning and said, "Why?"
"I am not certain." said Tuvok.
"I can't find anything wrong with you psychically," The Doctor said. "Are you feeling... anxious?"
"Vulcans do not feel." Tuvok reminded him.
"Of course not." said The Doctor. "Well, there's not much I can do for you except give you a mild sedative." He took a hypospray and injected Tuvok.
"Thank you, doctor." said the vulcan, standing up. As he made his way towards the door, he began to gasp for breath. he was sweating profusely, and he then fell to his knees.
"Tuvok?! Tuvok!" The Doctor rushed to his side and tryed to hold him up. "Whats wrong??"
Tuvok began convulsing, breathing hard. All around him, everything became a blur. He couldn't hear or see anything now, and he slipped into unconciousness.
The Doctor tapped his comm badge and said, "Doctor to the captain, I need you in sickbay immediately!"
"What's the problem?" Janeway's voice answered from the other end. The Doctor got up and scanned Tuvok. As he did so, he answered with a chilling tone, "Tuvok is dyeing."

***

"How did this happen?" Janeway asked, standing over the unconcious Tuvok. He lie still in the medical bed, clinging to life. Around him stood The Doctor, Janeway, and Neelix.
"I'm not sure," said The Doctor, "My initial scans picked up nothing out of the ordinary." He walked over to a medical console, and the others followed him. He then punched up Tuvok's brain wave patterns. "His wave pattern is erratic, and his nuero-peptide levels are off the scale." The Doctor paused for a brief moment, then said, "I'm afraid there's more bad news. I ran a scan of his abdominal region, and I noticed something perculiar." He pressed a button on the console, and within seconds an internal display of Tuvok's abdomen appeared.
"There are dangerous levels of cellular degredation in his pancreatic region. I'm afraid it's causing serious damage, and it's spreading."
A ghastly look appeared on Janeway's face. "Isn't there any way to reverse it?"
"At this time I don't believe so," said The Doctor solemnly, "But I assure you, captain, I don't intend to give up on him."
"Doctor," Neelix said, stepping forward, "If there's anything i can do to help save him, I'd be more than happy to donate some of my cells."
"Your willingness to help Tuvok is admirable, Mr. Neelix," said The Doctor, "But I'm afraid it's not that simple."
Tuvok, the captain thought to herself, I need you to pull through. The crew needs you to. Fight it, Tuvok.
"I'll keep you apprised of any new developments," said the EMH, "I'm afraid I can't do anything else for him at the moment."
There was a brief silence as the others processed everyting that has transpired.
"Keep me posted," the captain said solemnly, "I'll be on the bridge." She took one last look at her faithful tactical officer, then made her way out the door of sickbay along with Neelix. Just inches from the door, Neelix looked back at his Vulcan colleague and said, "Take care, Mr. Vulcan." As he turned around and walked out, a single tear escaped from his eye.

Lol cool story but does it take you 15 days to write a small part or are you smacking the entire thing in one post?
