This is next weeks.

Synopsis:

Enterprise is asked to evacuate a group of Denobulan geologists from a world that has been taken over by a militant faction, and since they are located deep underground, the effort requires some treacherous spelunking by the rescue team. Meanwhile Phlox faces a dilemma when another evacuee, an Antaran afflicted with a fatal dose of radiation, refuses to be treated by a Denobulan because of very old bad blood between the two races.

My review: 8/10

The overall plot was excellent and believable. I like to think of each episode as being original so I can enjoy the story unfolding without being constantly analytical comparing it to previous episodes in other series. On that note, I felt John Billingsley once again demonstrates his skill as an actor and really makes this episode shine. He portrays his character particularly well in this episode, especially during the scenes between Phlox and Archer, and, Phlox and Hudak (the patient). Billingsly protrays Phlox excellently as a caring yet strong willed individual who constantly is looking at the larger picture. His character seems to be the only one aboard the ship who has the guts to stand up to Archer.

The rest of the cast seemed to play somewhat minor roles in the story. I think Sato had no more than two minutes on screen which is actually a credit to her character (no time to start whining). T'Pol also played a minimal role and was on screen only a few minutes as well.

Archer is well, Archer. I have no personal vendetta against Scott Bakula, but some of his scenes seem over emotional and drawn out to prove his point. Granted he didn't want to see Hudak die, but surely Earth had similar medical rules referring to the right a patient has to refuse treatment. In my opinion, Archer in general needs to toughen up. For once, I wish he would make a decision with out debating with himself about it for the rest of the episode.

As for Travis Mayweather, I don't think his role in this episode fit at all (my main reason for giving this episode an eight). For a kid who grew up on cargo ships, when did he learn how to rock climb let alone be classified as an expert to lead the mission? I'm sorry, but I think Trip or Reed would have made a better choice. Speaking of the engineer and armory officers, Reed and Tucker seemed to play a minor roles, and as always Tucker is good for a few laughs in the episode.

Interesting role for Phlox in this one. I enjoyed his story, but the other subplot with Trip, Reed, and Travis was terribly boring. Had the entire ep been focused on Pholx and his patient, I would have enjoyed this one even more. Nice performance by Archer and T'Pol in supporting roles, I like Archer's actions lately, he, in my mind, has begun to come into his own.

I would have to agree with that.

I think the 'bad blood' between the 2 races will make for some intresting story plots in future eps.

I thought they just looked like any other cave. Maybe this is just because I only saw the ep on 80 mb divx, I dunno.

Just don't talk about it if it is obviously illegal, I think.
