Quest For Glory: A Hero Arises

An aging man hobbled over to where he was sitting. "Whatta what, we have beer for a silver, a well aged ale for 5 silvers or you can try the house specialty, Dragon's Breath for 10 silvers." Lone Wolf thought for a second. "Give me something plain and simple, just a beer." He said tossing the bartender a silver. Taking the silver, the bartender handed him a mug full of some sort of beer. Reaching into his pocket he pulled a herb and sprinkled it into the beer, he was crazy, but not stupid. The reaction was instinatious, the beer furiously bubbled, a reaction only gained from the breakdown of poisons. Thats when he noticed that the others were surrounding him. "Sh*t, here we go." he thought, as they started in on him and drew their daggers.
"Fine." he told them, "Be that way." A ball of light formed in his had, hidden from everyones view. "Dazzle!" he yelled throwing in into the air, and of course all those idiots looked right into the light as it exploded, temporarily blinding them. as they cried out in pain and covered their eyes, he downed his beer and ran out, but not before lifting a few coin purses. outside again, he felt refreshed, and looking at the purses, he was a few coins richer too.

((I've been at I-CON 22 all weekend so I haven't had time to write much. sorry))

Turning the corner Lone Wolf caught the smell of Fresh apples. Looking around he noticed what appeared to be a young centuar Woman behind a stand. he walked up to her, "Hello there." He said. "Good Afternoon young hero," the Centaur replied, "Would you be interested in some fruit or vegetables?" "Why yes I would," he said. "But thats not the only thing I'm interested in." He watched as the Centaur Girl blushed a deep red. "I'm sorry." She told him, "My father would never allow it, he believes i'm to young. But maybe next year..."

"Hank... Why don't you help this young man up." The sheriff said with an edge in his voice. A grunt was all the Ogre did to reply before he lifted Lone Wolf up off the ground with one hand. "No smart remark now, huh." The Sheriff said Clearly seeing the look of fear on Lone Wolf's face. "Put me down you stupid goon!" Lone wolf Yelled grabbing the Ogre's hand trying to find some way to break the grip. all his experiance was screaming at him. "Idiot!" He thought "The only way to break it's grip is for it to let go, or kill it!"

with the quickness only a theif could have he pulled a Dagger and his sword from his back scabbard's. He aimed the Dagger at the sheriff's throat and his sword at the Ogre's chest, their only weak point. "Put me down, or I shall put you and your deputy here down." Lone Wolf Said with all seriousness. "Hank, put him down." The Sheriff said not moving a muscle, but he kept his eye's locked on the Dagger inches from his throat. the ogre placed Lone Wolf back on his feet. "I knew you weren't stupid as your deputy here." Lone Wolf said. Replacing his weapons back in their scabbard's He looked at the sheriff. "I'll leave once my business is finished." Lone Wolf said. he began to walk away "I know thats what you want." He heard the Sheriff yell at him as he walked out of town, "You'll never become a Hero! You'll Die before you make it!"

As he walked past the town gates into the road he felt the wind kick up. In it he could smell the scent of danger, and he loved it. Looking north he noticed a small Hut, it had a small sign he couldn't make out. Further north he saw a small castle. To the south he just saw forest, and to the east too. But he had already seen the east forest, a little out is where the avalance occured trapping him in this he*l hole. turning he headed north to see what he could find out.

He had to walk a little bit before he was able to get close to the little hut. A picture of a potion bottle hung on the sign, A sign of an Apothacary. he rested a bit on an overly large tree in front of it. Looking up, he saw that a little flying lizard had made a nest on an overhanging branch. On closer inspection, something glinted in the nest... Something gold.

Catching his breath he started to climb the tree. "If it's gold, then my luck has changed." he thought. Finally, he reached the brach with the nest. with careful steps he walked out towards the nest, the lizard took one look at him and flew away. Reaching the nest he searched through it. A Gold ring poped up when he moved one of the hard lizard eggs. "Score!" Lone Wolf thought. In all his celebration, he forgot to keep his balance, With a slip of his foot he fell out of the tree onto a bush that was on the side of the road. "Son-of-a-bit*h" Lone Wolf said squirming out of the brush. "That hurt." He looked down at his still closed hand and opened it up. He still had the gold ring. with a smile on his face he walked over to the Apothacary door and knocked. "Today wasn't so bad." he muttered, as a voice inside yelled "Come in!" Walking into the Apothacary's shop, he had a gold ring in his hand, and a smile on his face.

((EGAD! It's been a while since i've had time to write.... Sorry.))

Closing the door behind him Lone Wolf had to wait a second for his eyes to adjust to the dark interior of the Apothocary. "Hello?" He called out. "Well Hello there," A voice answered "My name's is Aria and I'm the Apothacary of Dell." Aria stepped out into a small amount of Light so Lone Wolf could see her. He was a middle aged woman, A little on the heavy side. "Sorry it's so Dark," Aria said "some of these Plants and Herbs that I use cannot stand much Sunlight." Lone Wolf stepped forward and smacked his head on a low beam. "Da*n!" He shouted "Wow that hurt!" Aria rushed over to him and checked his head.

"Let me look at that." Aria said moving his hand. "You're going to have a nasty lump, but I can fix that." she pulled a rag from a pouch on her side and placed in over his head. "This should keep down the swelling." Holding the Rag over his head, Lone Wolf bent over to search for the Gold ring, He had dropped it when he hit his head. He finally found it over by the Door. bending down to Pick it back up, Aria looked at him. "What are you doing?" she asked. "I found this outside," He said showing her the ring. Aria's face lit up with joy. "You've found it!" She exclamed, "You've found my ring! Thank you." She grabbed Lone Wolf and hugged him. "I lost it weeks ago. Here's a reward for finding it." She handed him 2 healing potions and a few gold peices. after putting them in his pack Aria grabbed him tightly and gave him a Kiss. "What the...!" He thought after she let him go. Lone Wolf Walked quickly to the door. "Well good-bye. He said and ran out to avoid being kissed again.

Chapter 2: The guild.

Night was approching fast, and he had yet to aquire a place to sleep. He had just barely made it back into town before they closed the Giant gates for the night. The Sheriff was no where to be seen, always a plus. he spent a few minutes wandering around to get his eyes adjusted to the coming darkness. "This Sucks" He thought. "If I don't find a place to sleep soon, I'll be sleeping in the dirt."

Looking up he noticed a gleam of light from down an alleyway. Quietly he sneaked over and looked down the alley. A Giant Sack of gold coins sat in the middle. He looked around, there were only a few crates blocking his path. "nothing big enough to hide behind," he thought, creeping through. he got all the way to the bag before he noticed something was wrong, but by then it was too late...

He ducked just in time as a dagger flew over his head and imbedded itself in the wall next to him. He shot back up and reached for his daggers. "You were lucky to dodge the first one," A voice in front of him said, "But the next one is aimed at your back, so just be a good boy and hand over your money." a thief stepped out from the shadows in from of him. Lone Wolf just looked at him and shook his head. Clasping both of his hands together he made a number of different symbols with his hands. The Thief just stood there and looked shocked. "Do you mean the First person that we've grabbed in over a year is a Thief!" He sat on the ground and looked depressed. "I thought we were actully going to make some gold this time..." He looked up at Lone Wolf, "The Guild is in the Aces and Eights tavern, Tell Crusher the goon 'Swchierfish'."

Nodding Lone Wolf Walked out of the Alley. Another close call... Too close that time. "Got to be more careful." he thought as he pushed open the Tavern door for the second time. As he entered, everyone's eyes turned toward him. They were scared, He could tell, of him using anymore magic. Turning, he walked over to a giant goon sitting in a chair, even sitting down it was taller then Lone Wolf, and he was over 6'. "Crusher, I the Door your sitting on leads to the Thieves' guild right?" "What's the Passwoid?" Crusher grunted. "Swchierfish." Crusher stood up quickly and pulled up the trap door letting him in. "Thanks" Lone wolf said climbing down the ladder to the guild.

Finally touching ground after a long climb, Lone Wolf was greeted with less then Common theif courtasy. He was quickly usered into a chair next to whom he guessed was the Guild Master. "I am the Chief." he said. "I'm the guild master here."

before Lone Wolf could say anything, the chief was ranting. "Beginners, why the hel* am I always stuck with the beginners." he sat down in a chair across from Lone Wolf. "It will cost you 5 gold to get a Guild membership, talk to Boris," the chief said pointing towards a door with barred windows. "If you don't have the money to buy a Membership, go steal some!" Lone Wolf got up and walked towards the door, He could fell the few thieves that were down here with him watching him. He had to be ready for anything. A short balding man with glasses greeted Lone Wolf from the other side of the door. "Hi, I'm Boris, what can I get for you Today. We have a membership for 5 gold, daggers for 10 , a standard lock pick for 25, and a fully equipt thieves tool kit for 50 gold." Lone Wolf pulled out his coin purse, he only had enough for the membership for now. He needed another spell anyway. Forking over the Gold, Boris handed him a card that said:

Thieves Guild Union member
Union Number 1138

He put away the card and his purse, counting 10 more gold pieces. He was going to have to work tonight. "Da*n," he thought "I was trying to keep the break-ins a bare minimum." Climbing back up the Ladder, he reached the Tavern without any problems. The people were still afraid of him casting another spell. Walking out of the Tavern, he knew exactly who his first target was going to be. Remembering back to this morning, he had noticed an elderly lady outside her house when he was walking into the adventurers guild. She was dead asleep by now... An easy Target.

He crept up onto her front porch and took out his lockpick. Placing it inside the lock the fiddled with it until he heard a click. "Success!" he thought. Leaving his Backpack, shield and sword outside, he didn't want anything clanging around giving himself away, he opened the door quietly and snuck in. His eyes quickly adjusted to the small living quaters of the woman. A set of stair in the back left corner of the house was probably led to her bedroom. The rest was one big room, a couch and table were right in front of him, and beyond that a fireplace with a bright fire burning. He saw a small cat laying on a rug in front of the fireplace, it woke up as he came in and was now watching his every movement
