Thu Mar 27, 2003 3:37 pm Firefly coming to the UK |
|
The UK air dates for Firefly are the following. It will be on the UK Scifi channel:
12 May: 'The Train'
19 May: 'Bushwhacked'
26 May: 'Our Mrs Reynolds'
2 Jun: 'Jaynestown'
9 June: 'Out Of Gas'
16 Jun: 'Shindig'
23 Jun: 'Safe'
30 Jun: 'Ariel'
7 Jul: 'War Stories'
14 Jul: 'Objects In Space'
21 Jul: 'Serenity, Part 1'
28 Jul: 'Serenity, Part 2'
Please note that this is the same (incorrect) order as it was shown in the US. "Serenity" is actually the pilot. Also, "The Train Job" is not a good episode by which to judge the series. The first ep that's really representative of the rest is "Our Miss Reynolds". The best eps, in my opinion, are "Out of Gas", "Ariel", "War Stories", and "Serenity". However, none of them are downright bad.

^The difference is, Firefly is nothing like Andromeda.
-Firefly has interesting characters, Andromeda doesn't.
-Firefly has funny humor, Andromeda's jokes don't make me laugh
-And much more
Yeah, it may only have lasted for 14 episodes, but I'd take those 15 hours over all 4 seasons of 'Drom.

^If quality had *any* bearing on how long a show lasted, Andromeda would have been cancelled in season 2, Mutant X would never have gotten on the air, Enterprise would have to actually *work* to be assured of another season, and the term "Reality TV" would never have been invented.
Firefly, quite simply, rules. Even with only 14 episodes, its still one of my favorite series. If you disagree, fine, but that's not what this thread is about. I'm simply alerting the UK people that its coming up in case they want to catch it.
I am curious, though, how you see FF being at all similar to Andromeda. 'Drom is about a single ship trying to unify a scattered and chaotic universe. FF is about...well, a quote from "Out of Gas": "Get a small crew, people we trust, and just go. No matter how far the arm of the Alliance reaches, we'll stay one step ahead of them. Free." Dunno about you, but it seems like the premises of 'Drom and FF are exact *opposites*.
Oh, and Malcolm Reynolds is the only person who would have a *chance* against Han Solo in a fight. They're two of a kind. Unrelated tidbit, I know.
