I think it was "Descent", though its been years since I saw it....

What happened was Dr. Soong created it for Data, but Lore posed as Data and got it instead, so, several seasons later, Data finally got it back from Lore.

*when dats brother was trying to control borgs and latter uses emotion to control data..then data killed guy and took emotion chip but didn't start using it unil Generations

maybe it changes size everytime you see it cuz it supposedly gets a new build which makes it smaller or bigger so it is less buggy.

But why would data modify the chip? Geordi certainly can't, but, If I were Data, I would leave the chip alone, until I decide to place it in my noggin.

Maybe they stop at a starbase or something and get it or they are just messed up

he recieved the chip in 'Descent, Part 2' and had Geordi install it in his little head in Generations. Of course, yes it does change size and shape, the props people need a job

No no no no no, he deactivated lore, and asked Dr. Crusher to remove the emotion chip. It was stored in a little container that keeps it floating
