Was just wondering if anyone thought whether or not we would be flying in Federation Starships anytime soon??????? If so, how long until we have a fully operational Starship?

Assuming FTL travel is even possible, I wouldn't bet on seeing them in our lifetimes.

FTL travel is possible, I have to believe that. Someday we must explore the great Final Frontier, but thats a good 100-200 years down the road in my view.

Hi,
I voted for yes, bacasue it probally and will happen once our technology is more advanced. Then we can travel to the Delta Quardernt and back...............and we can all earn the rank for what ever possion we want.

I don't know about any time soon, but eventually, I think we will. Anything is possible.

In reality I don't see mankind reaching that level of technological advancement during my lifetime ....... so unfortunately no.
However, if some kind of holotechnology was to be invented within the next 50 years then it would be possible to create simulations of starships and fly them that way. It wouldn't be as good as the real thing .... but it would be sufficient for me.

In all likelyhood the only thing we'll see in our lifetime is the sleeper ship. You know, the kind where you are cryogenically frozen till the trip is done? Nasa is supposedly getting closer to a working ion drive propulsion system, so that will probably be the next step.

Yeah, it would be nice if it was in our lifetime, but that is extremely doubtful. But i assume it will happen a long way down the line.

well from wat i have learned is that anti-matter is a reliable source of fuel and DOES exist BUT it takea about 1,000 years for one partical of it to form, but also scientits r trying to replicate it, if they can replicate it it would b possible for us to c civilians in space, just think.....
