I think Phantom Menace is a fitting hier to the original 3, although ep 2 is not. Ep 1 featured the best lightsabre battle in Wars history, and I loved Qui Gon. Ep 3 should be a bit less digital than ep 2.
I'd call ep 1 my second favorite to ep 4.
I love the Thrawn/Zahn triology as being accepted as the "canon" post-quils. (Eps 7-9) And I also loved Shadows of the Empire.

^The way I look at it, the Thrawn trilogy is almost as canon as the movies. The rest of the novels are almost as canon as the Thrawn trilogy, and the comics are canon where they fit in and not where they don't.
The games are interpretations of actual events, not the events themselves.
Of course, George Lucas has said that the novels et al are an "alternate universe." That's fine with me-----it means that they *did* happen, even if in another timeline something else happened. Kind of the way that the Stargate movie is an alternate universe of Stargate SG-1.

Really? I never knew that about Stargate...mind you I don't really watch it although I have seen a couple of episodes and the ones I saw were pretty good. The Thrawn trilogy was really good. It would be good if we saw (or at least a reference to) the Katana fleet in Episode 3 because weren't they clone war era ships? I'm not sure; it's been a while since I read the books.
My other NJO books should come tomorrow...and I'm thinking of getting Destiny's Way Hardback next Sunday when I go into town Wow I really need to control dis spending spree

^You might want to hold off on that. Since you've got the others to read through anyway, its possible----if perhaps not probable---that it'll be out in paperback by the time you're ready for it. I'm waiting.
As for Stargate, the alt. universe thing hasn't been made official, but the *existence* of alternate universes has been established in the TV show, and its really the only way to explain different actors, different names (Sha'uri vs Sha're), even a couple of different locations (Creek Mountain vs Cheyenne Mountain).

Hmmm...yeah good point really...I have gone a little over the top on these books just recently haven't I <deep breaths> must....put....wallet....down....i think I have a spending problem...
but anyways, I checked on www.amazon.co.uk and it says that Destiny's Way will be out in paperback at the beginning of August so I think I'll wait because they usually put the e-books in the reprinted paperbacks according to this site I read...we got given 1 off book vouchers at college so I might make use of that to get that Force Heretic book 1 while I can get it cheap...
and yeah that's another good point about the StarGate thing

^Nope. Don't have the cover handy, but the TF plays no part in the NJO. If they're even still in existence.

I think that I might use that token to get the 2 Dark Tide books (well 1 off anyway) and then I can get Heretic free if I buy from WHSmiths.
Yeah I didn't think that the Trade Federation would still exist either but I just wondered...

***oh, and they didn't name the queen's ship in Ep.1 because it's a "Royal Fleet". Names like "The Lady Luck" (no offense to lando) don't really belong on a queens transport eh?

Yeah I guess your right. Me hadn't thought of that. But I think it would have been better to give it more of a personal feel to it. In my opinion...
I read somewhere that each queen/king of naboo chose their own ship...I would have thought they'd have named it. Mind you it wasn't really a choice in Ep1 was it; they just kinda blasted outta there
