I don't know about that.

you do it something like this:

186,000 x 60 seconds = a
a x 60 minutes = b
b x 24 hours = c
c x 365 days = d
D= distance traveled in one year @ light speed; aka its a BIG NUMBER.

Jesus Christ, both of you confused the hell out of me.

(from dictionary.com) the speed at which light travels in a vacuum; 300,000 km per second; a universal constant

Yeah, but I like comparing it to a car. 1,080,000,000 km/h.

That's ALOT of horsepower...

Can you say... 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000hp and the same amount of torque?

BUT IT HAS TO BE A V8!!!!

To clarify a few things:

A Lightyear is a measure of distance.

The speed of light is a constant speed.

And if he's even still here, excell55 gets a warning for flaming. Although exactly who he's referring to is unclear.

You can't handle a protoculture powered TT 5.4 DOHC!

Sorry, I dont like 'the speed of light'. Speed is all relative. If I shine a torch directly away from me, the photons are at the speed of light, but if someone is sitting on the photon, it looks like i'm travelling at the speed of light. This is where i've had endless conversations with my mates about the 'speed of light'! Think about it. Lets say the speed of light (bloody hell, even I cant stop myself from using it!) is x. According to Albert, you cant exceed the speed of light. So i'm in my car travelling with a forward velocity of 100km/h and I turn on the headlights..........OH NO........so that means the photons emitted from the headlights now have a fowards velocity of x + 100km/h which means they are travelling faster than the speed of light?! Basically, this is where Einstien breaks down and all's people can say is 'dunno'.

Nope, your lights and vehicle will be traveling at the same speed.
