Wed Feb 19, 2003 6:00 pm Frakes a better actor or director? |
|
Jonathon Frakes... did you like him better as an actor or a director? I think he directed most of the new movies, and as far as acting goes, I usually can't hear him anyway because whenever I've watched TNG my father would be floating around in the background going on and on about how Frakes is the worst actor known to man.
Opinions?

I like him in both respects. For acting, I've only seen him as Riker on TNG, and it always seemed to me that he looked natural in his role (something I've always constituted with good acting skills). As for directing, I think he did an excellent job with First Contact and Insurrection (I was disappointed when he didn't direct Nemesis). I also like the work he did on the show Roswell.

I find Mr. Frakes' acting style to be a bit...odd, I don't know quite why. He's just not quite real as Riker: not enough depth to his character. As a director he is far more than mediocre, but certainly not fabulous. He's a good performer: not wonderful, but not horrible either.

Well, Mr. Frakes's acting abilities improved. He didn't used to be all that good but then he got better. At least he was smart enough to not cast himself too much in the movies

Frakes was a soap star. Thus the bad acting.
Frakes directed First Contact and Insurrection.
I think he's badass in both respects.

He was the best "true first officer" Trek has had, in my view. He was very believable in the Captain position as well, and he directed two of my favorite Trek films, so I'd have to say I liked him in both aspects. Frakes is a good actor.

i love him as an actor and director cause he had brilliant acting in shades of grey and first contact was amazing and thats when he had the biggest directing achievement and when he done clockstoppers that was really good.
i have the utter most respect for him as both.
