What I meant by easier is that 1) Yes they are cheaper 2) They can be loaded faster and 3) you can carry more of them.

I'm not convinced that 2 and 3 are correct. A torpedo is a torpedo. They are about the same size, so how could you carry more photons? And if the loader loads at a certain speed, why should one type take longer?

Safety reasons and such. And Photon torpedos are smaller. And even if they aren't, my favorite of the torpedos is the Photon.

They are the same size, and quantum torpedoes are just as safe as photons...

Well the explosive yeald of a quantum is higher than a photon, this may make a quantum heavier in mass and thus slower at accelerating towards it's target. My theory of why the sovereign fires quantums out the front and photons out the back is because it needs the faster acceleration if it fires out the rear because the ship is already moving away from it's target.

I think it can fire either one either way. Coincidence. Maybe I'm wrong... Can someone help out and post specs. on quantum/photon torpedoes?

Yeah, they probally can fire either way, but if you think about battle physics, if you fire a torpedo out the front to hit the target ahead, the torpedo will not need to accelerate fast, because your already moving towards it. But if you fire a rear torpedo, your already moving away from the target, and the torpedo will need to have a lot less mass to accelerate and speed into the target, even more so if the target is also moving away from you.

Let's look at it in car talk:

0-60

photon torpedo = 3.7 seconds (WOAH! Its like a 450 hp lightweight porsche!)
Quantum torpedo = 4.5 seconds (Slower but packs more yeild because of the weight!)
Los' semi-funny groovy bomb = 10.4 seconds (Sorry, had to throw it in)

Do we know for sure that the quantum is slower?

True true...

My favorite is the type that the Enterprise-A had in The motion picture. The typical photon torpedo is red, but the one's in TMP were bright blue and had little streamers of light coming off of them as they flew. I thought they kinda looked like quantum torps cause of their color, even though they arent.....

Has any one seen a plasma torpedo i have jus got them on st bridge commander and they are great they are like transpahsic but they are extreamly volitile and can blow the torpedo tubes up because they tend to leak some plasma as they are going out of the tubes
