Fri Feb 07, 2003 4:21 pm The Enterprise-is it too...nto Enterprise-ish? |
|
I was reading ENT-By the book and realized something-THEY'RE ON THE ENTERPRISE. Okay, I knew they were on the Enterprise, but really, the Captain isn't like Picard or Kirk where they're legends, he doesn't seem like the captain of the 'Enterprise.' Maybe some other ship, but he's not Enterprise quiality, anyone get where I'm coming from? I hope so...

Enterprise has no great Stigma at the time, only two US Aircraft Carriers and a fake Space Shuttle have beared the name in modern times, exlcuding sailing vessles. As to the historical prestige, many said that of the TNG crew during the first two seasons. It takes time.

The power has never come from "Enterprise" (as shown by DS9 and Voyager). The power comes from "Star Trek". Berman and Braga have removed the "Star Trek" from Enterprise, both figuratively and literally.

Fake space shuttle? Son, they built the space shuttle. Then they stripped it.

I call it fake because it never reached orbit.
Quack...
Good point about the Star Trek name. This show, with some exceptions, is a major departure fromt the franchises stigma and greatness. But there is still time to form a new following, both together and apart from the classic Trek style.

aside from Constutution, there is no greater pride the Navy can bestow upon a vessel than to name her "Enterprise". her cres are teh stuff of legends, in the real world, not the Star Trek one.
