PostSat Jan 18, 2003 10:11 pm    The Journey

Down the dark path I walk,
watching as the light is driven away by shadows.
The void within me manifests itself
as an abyss of an angry soul.

I know not what lies before me,
but what I have left behind.
I can not go back from whence I came,
I must continue my quest.

I am covered in sweat,
dirty, fatigued, forgotten.
The absence of companionship drives me mad
my is ego bruised and battered.

Each step I take is a step into my soul,
the fires within me fuel my desire to push forward,
To leave behind the mortal realm,
and to reach the plateau of perfection.

I struggle to keep myself going,
each breath I take is like a dagger penetrating my skin.
I grow weary, ragged,
ready to fall into a lifeless slump on the cold ground.

At last I see the light,
the holy, illuminating light that fills my soul with wonder,
the light from where my journey will finally end.

An unseen force blocks my path,
either some invisible foe,
or my own fatigue.

With a mighty breath,
and a long step forward,
I embrace the light.

The cold winds have dissipated,
the bog of the abyss is replaced by fields of green,
covered in beautiful flowers of gold and pink,
sprouting from the ground,
nurtured by me essence.

At last my journey is complete,
and I lay my head to rest.
My eyelids are heavy, my mind is at peace,
and I am lulled to sleep by the purity within me.
