On DS9 there was a real focus on several alien races that got little attention in other Trek series like the Cardassians, Ferengi, Jem'Haddar, Founders, and even the Klingons and Romulans. What did everyone think of these races and their main characters. I think that guys like Quark, Garak, Martog and Odo were all big parts of the show and contributed to the depth the series had.

I think that the cardassian element was a great addition to the show, but i would have liked to see more species in the Dominion empire.

But it's like love or hate, now is that real or fake?
Cause it's a real thin line, but that's your choice to make.
The question at hand, help me understand, is this your plan?
I think I can, can I think, then I think I can.

Once the writers realized that DS9 wasn't going anywhere (literally) they had the epiphany that the stories must be character based...DS9 already had a great cast of supporting aliens but the way they "invented" more, tied them into the stories and kept track of it all still amazes me. When I'm writing, I find it hard to keep track of all the charaters (at least more than three or four at a time). Maybe that's why I haven't tackled a DS9 fanfic yet. LOL

DS9 had more ties to TOS than any other series, with the mirror universe, trials and tribble-ations; it also served to tie in the TNG era series', TNG emissary, and the O'brian family, and Worf and his family, VOY caretaker, and Non Sequiter ZDS9 are in or mentioned. DS9 tied in the entire Trek Universe except Enterprise so it true is the most important series

True I agree, they also mentioned a lot of TOS Races such as tholians etc to be allies with the federation and featured a lot of Ambassadors of TOS races being mentioned.

That will be a long list. I could muster up the names for one, but that would take too long. Oompsty, do you have the most recent Star Trek Encyclopedia? It would help a lot.

Agreed. It doesn't have Voyager's last two seasons, anything on Enterprise or anything on Nemesis. The new one can't be more than a year away.
