Sun Jan 05, 2003 2:43 pm Would should there have been instead of ENT? |
|
I would have thought it was going to be something in the near future when the federation has learned to control time travel (crewman daniels time frame). Then the series could have taken a new directed. Not only could the plots revolve around the federation space but in all the times the federation exsisted. It would have been interesting to say none the less.

But it's like love or hate, now is that real or fake?
Cause it's a real thin line, but that's your choice to make.
The question at hand, help me understand, is this your plan?
I think I can, can I think, then I think I can.

I dunno about all that. Then you get into some pretty interesting stuff then, and then it becomes something like Sliders.

Well anything would have been better then ENT. What is sliders about? I want to compare it to my idea.

It gets into the idea of changing alternate realities and soon it becomes a fight to route the realities into a similar one based on the model timeline in which the travelers originated.

^Hmm, i would have thought they would have adapted the crewman daniels and the temporal cold war theme.

Breaking new ground is tough, but can work. DS9 did it. ENT is something of new ground, but I continue to point to the Voyager problem here, Berman and Bragga. Every week on VOY there was a new throw away race, no condusive or interesting plot, and no character development past Seven, the Doctor, and the Captain.
Busty Seven and Bustier T'Pol are two more similarities, but those are similarities I like.
ENT CAN WORK!!!
I'll give it another season before I go in the tank on it and the cast.

^I just wish they would pull a rabbit out of there hats and give it a sense of direction. The ratings are low enough as it is and if they continue on this road there will be no more seasons to pick itself up on.

I had heard rumors about ideas for a series that took place on an alien ship, possibly the Klingons, before they decided to go with Enterprise. I think it would have been interesting to see things from another species' point of view.

Peter David, noted Trek author, recently suggested that an adaptation of "Firefly" to the Trek universe would have been a hit. I agree.
A Starfleet officer is courts-martialed for refusing to take action against the Maquis (or something like that). Kicked out of Starfleet, he buys a freighter and pulls together a motley crew of misfits. No longer welcome in Federation space, he plies the trade lines to make a living.
The premise of Firefly was somewhat different, but that was the closest adaptation I could come up with.

Well the whole idea of star trek is 'Where no man has gone before'. It's the terran adventure and always will be.

There needs to be a war and problems in which they can't solve in one or several episodes.
Something like... The Yorg.

^I would like to see ENT get in the middle of someone elses war, like seriously Cold war Federation vs. the suliban and ENT in the middle trying to alter time itself. They kind of do this theme now but only every 15 or so episodes. I want to see it every episode.

You know what would seriously rule? A TV show based around Star Wars: The New Jedi Order.
Nothing to do with ENT, though. That just occured to me as I read the thread.

A star wars series replacing ENT? Well, at least it would be something new.

^Hmm, but wouldn't that be kind of restricting since it's on earth?
there wouldn't be much to do.

LOL, I think I had heard rumors about an idea like this too. But, like Oompsty said, it would be kind of restricting. I don't think it would leave much room for battles in space either, unless the cadets were training or something.

Well, it's also like this, it's in the heart of the federation, you aren't going to get much action there.
