"We've been testing it at Starfleet medical to determine if it can protect biomatter from techyon radiation." The Doctor explained.
"And?" Kathryn asked.
"It's very promising. Why do you ask?"
"I need two-thousand milligrams by tomorrow afternoon." She explained.
"Why?"
"That's classified. Will you get it for me?" Kathryn asked, praying he would say yes.
"Of course Admiral. You'll have it by oh-nine-hundred."
"Thank-you." Kathryn said.
That night at Pathfinder the computer downloads information into a PADD Reg is holding.
"Download complete." The Computer annouces.
"This should be everything you need." He tells Kathryn.
"The shutte?" She asks.
"Waiting for you at Oakland Shipyard. I wish you'd let me come with you." He pleaded.
"Sorry Reg, but the is my mission. Besisdes, if you leave, there won't be anyone to teach eager young cadets about the Borg." She mused.
"Oh, I made you some fresh tea for the trip. Not that replicated stuff." Reg hands her a thermo flask.
"Thank you. For everything. I wouldn't have been able to do this without you." She complimants.
"Don't remind me." Reg jokes, and Kathryn returns home.
In the morning Kathryn stands facing Nature, with a slight cooling breeze.
"Any final words of advice for your old Captain, your wife? Wait, don't tell me: I'm being impulsive, I'm not considering all the consequences, It's too risky. Then you'd say, 'But no matter what Kathryn, I'm with you untill the end'. Then you may recall some childhood story, and compare it to our predicament." She says aloud.
Kathryn kneels down and smoothes away the leaves from Chakotay's tombstone.
"I know it wasn't easy living all these with what you lost, Chakotay, but when I'm through things will be better for all of us, including Taya. I have a confeesion to make to you, when we were married I was already pregnant with our daughter. In fact, I was carrying her before we seen that nebula. So, I have a chance to save som many lives, I just need you to trust me."
Kathryn bends down again and removes a square of grass to reveal a small metal case. She slowly opens it, and inside is Chakotay's wedding band. She takes a gold chain out of her pocket, and puts both her's, and Chakotay's ring on it, then puts it on her neck.
"I need you close to my heart Chakotay."
More to come.

Hey, here's some more for those of you that have waited so patiently.
On Voyager B'Elanna tries repeatedly to rouse her husband from sleep.
"TOM!" She says, loud and with force.
Tom stirrs and slowly come to.
"I'm asleep." He moans, and faces away from her.
"It's time!" B'Elanna replies.
"For what?" Tom asks.
"I'll give you one guess."
B'Elanna turns on the lights and Tom sits up sharply. He looks behind him and sees his heavily pregnant wife up and about. He taps his combadge.
"Paris to-" He says, tapping his combadge again.
"Paris to-" He tries again, and then realizes he's not wearing his combadge. He reaches over to his nightstand and scoops up his combadge.
He says in a panic into it, "Paris to sickbay it's time."
The Doctor answers over the intercom.
"Remain calm Mr. Paris, can she stand?" He asked.
Tom looks around franticly to see B'Elanna putting on a red robe.
"Affermative." Tom replies.
"Then I suggest you report to sickbay." He suggests.
Tom stands up and walks up the door, and turns and faces B'Elanna, and a new understanding dawns on him.
"What about B'Elanna?" He asks.
"Her too." The Doctor replies.
"Right, of course." Tom says, and B'Elanna shakes her head.
As he rushes back into the room to fetch a wrap for her, she lumbers out as quickly as her pregnancy allows her.
"Maybe we should take the transporter?" He suggests, but B'Elanna is already out the door, so he quickly runs after her.
Roughly half-an-hour later in Sickbay....................
The Doctor is scanning B'Elanna who is lying down on the bio-bed.
"Hmmmm...." The Doctor says.
"What do you mean by 'hmmm'?" Tom asks, rather impatient.
"You're going to have a very healthy baby, but not tonight." The Doctor explains.
"Tell me you're joking!" Yells B'Elanna.
"You're experiencing false labour, Lieutenant."
"Again?" ASked Tom, shaking his head.
"As I explained the last time, it's a common occurrence, especially among Klingons."Doctor replies, flustered.
"I want this thing out of me NOW!! " B'Elanna yells as loud as her lungs will allow her.
"Misdirected rage - another common occurrence among Klingons." THe Doctor quipps.
"Can't you induce?" Tom asked, hoping not to feel the wrath of his fuming wife.
"I wouldn't recommend it."
"If this keeps happening, we'll never get any sleep." Tom complains.
"You think it's bad now?" The Doctor inquires.
Three-four hours later in Kathryn's Readyroom......
"When?" Kathryn asked.
"Oh-four-hundred." Chakotay replies.
"How many false alrams does this make?" Kathryn ponders.
"Three, that we know of." Chakotay replies, thinking of a VERY personal topic he'd like to speak with Kathryn about.
"That baby's as stubborn as her mother." Kathryn remarks, and Chakotay smiles to himself.
"Harry's starting a pool to see who can guess the actual date and time of birth." Chakotay explaines, and Kathryn thinks to herself.
"Tell him to put me down for next Friday 2300 hours. Anything else?"
Chakotay feels his heart pounding in his chest, and thinks of another topic to discuss.
"Crewman Chell's asked about taking over in the messhall full time."
"Neelix left some pretty big pots and pans to fill. Does Mr Chell think he's up to the challenge?" Kathryn asks Chakotay, seeing tension in his passionate eyes.
"Apparently so. He's prepared a sample menu." Chakotay leans over and hands her a PADD. For the breif moment their hands touch Kthryn can sense his devotion, love, and hidden intentions.
"Plasma leek soup? Chicken warp core-don bleu?!" She reads aloud.
"If his cooking's as bad as his puns, we're in trouble." Chakotay jokes, and Kathryn laughs softly.
That laugh, the soft and tinkly one Chakotay would do anything to hear. He adds this laugh to his chest of precious memories.
"Oh I don't know. I wouldn't mind giving his red alert chilli a try. Feel like having lunch?" She asks.
"I'd love to, but...I want to talk about something..." Chakotay trailed off.
"What is it Chakotay?"Kathryn asked, sensing and important subject looming on Chakotay's lips.
"Have you ever given thought to where our relationship is headed?"
"Yes, in fact, I was pondering on us before you came in here." She replied.
"Because I was wondering your thoughts....and what you were looking for in our venture." He explained.
"What are you looking for in our partnership?" She asked back.
"Well.....uh....I was thinking......since we've known eachother for.....what seven years? That we take what we have to the next level." He stammered.
"Are you proposing Chakotay?" Kathryn asked, her heart doing flip-flops in her chest.
Chakotay slowly reached in his well-pressed Starfleet jacket and pulled a small black velvet ring-box from his hidden pocket. He put himself on one knee in front of Kathryn, and took her hand into his. He opened the box to reveal a gold ring, with a fair size diamond with a ruby on either side.
"Kathryn you of all people know how hard and how much people we may lose before this journey is up. I don't want to die, or lose you not knowing what could've been. So Kathryn Janeway, esteemed Captain of the U.S.S. Voyager, will you be marry me?" Chakotay asked.
Kathryn was speechless, she couldn't find what to say. Did she want to marry Chakotay, the answer was yes. But could she, she wasn't so sure. Kathryn looked deeply into Chakotay's eyes, and could clearly see the love Chakotay had for her.
"Yes." She whispered.
"You mean it?" Chakotay asked.
"Yes Chakotay, I do. I want to be your wife!" She exasperated. Chakotay reached into the ring-box and put the ring on Kathryn's finger. She looked at it, it seemed forgein to her finger.
Kathryn didn't realize she was crying untill she felt the hot tears on her cheeks. Before she could wipe them away Chakotay kissed each and every one of them.
"We better get on the bridge." Kathryn said, and they went to the bridge. Kathryn slowly sat in her chair, and it was Harry who worked up the courage to ask.
"Uh Captain?" He said, from his post.
"Yes Harry?" Kathryn replied.
"I'm sure I speak for all, but is that what I think it is?" He asked. Slowly every focused their attention on Kathryn's hand.
"Yes it is Harry." She replied.
"So you and Commander Chakotay are......" He asked again.
"Yes we are Mr. Kim."
"Then may I take the honors of being the first on to congratulate you?"
"Go ahead Harry." Kathryn replied.
"Congrats Captain." He replied. Kathryn smiled as everybody else, including Tuvok and Tom, congratulated them.
Fifteen minutes later they left for some lunch. As soon as they entered the Mess Hall all crew members in there fell silent. It was B'Elanna who first stood up and started clapping, followed by everybody else. This brought tears to both Kathryn and Chakotay's eyes.
Things are going good, right? What could possibly go wrong?
