I will be participating in the "Strange New Worlds"
Star Trek short story competition in 2002.

I will be posting details on how and why this is a
great opportunity for unpublished writers. Please join
in with your questions or comments!

Perhaps one of us will win!

I've thought about doing that myself, but I've reread my stories several times, and they just don't seem to cut the quality level they expect. I don't know, maybe in a year I'll try submitting one of mine.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who
wants to try this!

Lindley: One of the recommendations of the
chief editor is...just send in your story. Do not
try to get it perfect...he feels that we do not know
what "perfect" is in the minds of the judges!

Food for thought....

To Seven: I am sorry, you seem to have such a
depth of knowledge about Star Trek ... it is a shame
that the competition is not international in scope.

I am anxious to read the winners of the ST:SNW V
contest. The book will not be available until March 2002
I believe.

The winners for the Strange New Worlds: V contest
were announced on 01-04-2002. The book of the
chosen short stories will be published in May 2002.

The official rules for this year's contest have not been
published yet. When they are, I will let everyone know!

Meanwhile, start writing.....

They are being coy about publishing the rules, so
they must be changing them somehow for this
year's competition.

I will keep you informed...

The Strange New Worlds Contest VI is accepting story submissions NOW!

The contest runs until October 1, 2002.

The word-limit per story is 7500.

Yes, Canadians are eligible but not if they are from Quebec for
some reason??????

Complete rules are available at the back of SNW:V that was
just published and released on May 28, 2002.

HOW MANY STORIES ARE YOU SENDING IN?????

I sent in a ST:VOY story to the Strange New Worlds VI
competition (before October 1, 2002).

The winners should be notified around the end of
December 2002.

*** wish me luck ****

*** My story was entitled: "A Dish Best Served Cold".

Well, my story did not make the cut.

The disappointment I feel in myself for not measuring up was more than I expected. If I am able to regain my courage, I will try again in the 2003 contest. Right now though, that does not seem likely.

Thank you for your good wishes.

The anthology where the 23 winning stories are published is called:
"Strange New Worlds VI" .... for this year's winners. There have
been 5 previous annual anthologies published from this contest.

If you believe that you might like to try, this year's book will
be published by June 2003. The exact rules for the 2003 competition
are listed in the back pages.
