The worst thing Miral had ever had to do came the next day. The ship was being cleaned up, the remains of the crew being transported to the sick bay. It was horrible. And she had to work since the lose of life was overwhelming.

It was sickening to see the burnt remains of the people she had lived with. Miral just tried to keep her mind off the idea that these were people. But she emersed herself in the work, trying to keep her mind off of what really happened.

She was in denial.

The second day that she was on duty in sick bay she ran across the remains of her mother and almost died right there on the spot.

" I can't do this." Miral whispered under her breath, tearing her eyes away from what remained of her mother.

She remembered her mother, how honorable, how beatiful her mother once was. Now she stared down at burnt skin, bloodless, colorless, the proud face of her mother gone and unrecognizable. She just knew it was her mother from the ring she wore on her finger. Miral removed the ring, holding it up too the light. The tears came then.

" I can't do this." Miral whispered again, turning away from the remains and heading over to the door.

" Where are you going?" The Doctor asked Miral as she left.

" This is too much." Miral told him, heading out the door and retreating to her quarters. Miral threw herself down on the bed, sobbing into the sheets. " This isn't happening... this isn't happening." Miral repeated over and over, until she was asleep. And she didn't wake up until she felt someone touch her shoulder and she woke up to her father and mother.
