Quite frankly, I didn't enjoy this book at all. It was basically one of the worst written books I have ever read, and I'm interested in knowing if anyone else shares my opinion. Enclosed below is a review I wrote on it for amazon.com (it was titled, Poorly written, almost like getting your teeth drilled):
I bought this book with high expectations from the reviews and the fact that I have read a few of Diane G. Gallagher's books-and frankly, my expectations fell flat. The book is incredibly poorly written, and by reading the book and then watching the show, you can tell what dialogue the writer added. It basically ruins the episode to, as since 90% of the dialogue is taken DIRECTLY FROM THE EPISODE (word by word, sentence by sentence), it makes the episode seem cheesy and quite stupid. The beginning part into B'Elanna's history, which could have been quite interesting, is instead handled in a manner that makes it not at all crucial to the story (one could skip over the first 20 pages and still not a miss a beat in the book's plotline-I did), and poorly written. Basically, what was supposed to be the inside look at B'Elanna Torres revealed no more than what we already know from the show-the whole book is a waste of time and money. The only positive thing about it is that it has a few touching scenes between B'Elanna and Tom, and the poker game of Harry's is nice, but appears out of nowhere. All in all, it's the worst Voyager book I've ever read.

Look, It was bad, I agree, I read all the Day of Honour books and this was by far the crappiest. Nowadays, a good book is hard to find, especially when it's Star Trek. Bloody authors are so non-canon!!!!! A book by Armin Shimerman, the guy who plays Quark on DS9, said that the U.S.S Defiant was the most powerful ship in Starfleet! Most powerful ship my ass, it's only got twin pulse phasers and type Mark XI Photon Torpedos, also known as Quantum Torpedos. They are good, but the Enterprise-E and the U.S.S Sovereign, and all the other Sovereign-class starships have type XII phaser beams, and Mark XII Torpedos, which is a step above the Defiant's quantum torpedos. It would take 3-4 normal Defiant class starships to destroy a Sovereign class ship. But then, the U.S.S. Defiant has a cloaking device... but it's the only Defiant class ship with one. And also the only Defiant class ship with ablative armour. But still, even the Enterprise-D saucer section could beat the crap out of it. I won't even tell you what the Enterprise-E will do with it...

LMAO-I've got no clue what the USS Defiant looks like, but, you've convinced me, LOL
I recommend the authors that wrote Battle Lines...they were quite good with sticking to the actual characters and everything

also you must remember that the sovereign class ships were built after the defiant, and the defiant was the best at its time.
although the akira class ship is very powerful, with 14 torpedo tubes, with 7 forward tubes that can fire 4 bursts or torpedoes! it can pack a few punches!

I thought that Day of Honor was OK...that's it. And I mean on the down side of ok. Day of Honor was one of my favorite episode's and that book just didn't do it justice!
