PostMon Aug 12, 2002 3:45 pm    Borg Assimilation

When the borg assimilate a species do they like ive them a super strong pain killer or something. Becasue when you see them getting assimilatedthey dont scream at all but they never really show them getting a pain killr or something. Or is it the nano-probes that they get ejected with which makes it painless. Does anyone know?

From what I understand it is very painful. In a few episodes I have heard a little screaming...

yeah. Its very painful. Thats what 7 said. I think they are in too much pain to scream or move. That may be it.

Well in some epps when seven is talking about being in the collective, she shows guilt at assimulating people. the pain that she caused.

I may be wrong, but I think the pain 7 is talking about is the emotional pain on the families, etc. Again I may be wrong.

I believe she is refering to the insertion of her implant above her eye: "It was the most painful experience of my life."
She was talking to the psycho prisoner about it...

I've been wondering what it would be like. Someone said in the "I hate Star Trek" website that in Star Trek First Contact, when Picard was about to escape into the jeffries tube and that guy got assimilated and begged for help which only resulted in Picard killing him that it was barbaric and wrong. I don't think that he understood that It's what that man would have wanted.
Then again i hate Harry Potter and i know bugger all about it so i guess i understand.

hmmm.. yeah think of it as little parasites going through you assimilating you and sending implants through your skin. It would hurt ALOT.

If you've seen the bit's in the Alien movies where the aliens burst out your guts, Imagine that, scaled down and spread equally throughout your entire body and robotised.

Get my drift?

I think once they are ejected, it ends and they feel nothing.

it's painful, but starfleet officers dont usually actually scream. It used to be worse, when the strapped 'em to a table and did it all from there. now they inject nanoprobes to start the process. by the time they get their mechanics installed, they are already largely adapted.
