I heard that Wesley was going to be at the social gathering at the start of Nemesis (I'm saying no more incase people don't yet know how the film will open)
To sum up Wesley's rank:
Picard made him an acting ensign in (I think) Where No One Has Gone Before. Because this was the lowest rank that would allow him to work on the bridge
He was given field commission of ensign in Menage a Troi because he sacrificed his place at Starfleet Academy to help find Riker and the Trois
He still had to attend the academy though and left for it in Final Mission
Now a cadet he had to repeat a year in The First Duty
He dropped out in Journey's End to travel with the traveller

Unfortunately the Trek Official website has confirmed that Wesley Crusher will be in the next Star Trek (Damn!)

Isn't Ensign higher than Cadet? If so, why the hell would he want to go to starfleet. I know you would get promoted in the future, but wait until some major crisis happened (....Generations.....)

He was temeraly made ensign because he mist the tripo to earth.So Capt.Picard made in Ensign for a bit before he returned to earth and became a cadet.

Wesley was an ACTING ensign. He was not an official starfleet crewmember, but he wore the uniform because he was a bridge officer.

I only thought his rank was Acting Ensighn and nothing else, and even after joining starfleet he did not make it to Ensighn as he left starfleet to go of with the traveller
