It uses high-intensity sound waves to clean you. But this is more appropriate for Trek Tech, and if I'm not mistaken we already had a thread like this there.

That'd save money on yer water bills!
But then again dilithium doesn't exist (or hasn't been discovered by humans anyway) so we wouldn't be able to make one.
Personally, i prefer normal showers cause you can get all soapy and you can pee in it too!

It cleans with high intensity sound waves. It works well and doesnt get you wet, and cleans better and faster than soap and water. It can be deafening if the sound muters on it break, though.

Yeah Sonic showers use High freaquency Sound wave passed out at high speeds to remove dirt from every nook and cranny! Primitive versions of them already exist, there used to clean fossils and other fragile items by scientists.

To put it technically: (the tech already exists today actually)
Hypersonic vibrations are emitted from the walls of the shower (by speakers maybe), and these cause the dirt to vibrate and fall away from you, as we saw in Juggernaut. This also causes microbes that can't stand these set frequencies to be killed off. Your skin is capable of withstanding the vibrations, and since the frequencies are so high the ears' bones don't really vibrate very far so you don't get hurt.
Although the tech exists today to create such waves of sound, it's costly and inefficient as the human will pick up a lot of dirt as the day goes on and it takes more power to run the sonic shower than the normal shower.

I don't think they are speekers, more like pulsers like larger faster versions of the ones we use to create fake waves or to run electric tooth brushes.
