from my understanding, transwarp is still normal warp, just faster than warp 10 (warp 11, 12, up to 39. warp 10, 20, 30 and 40 are practically impossible). slipstream is more like a opening in space creating a conduit to fly through, like a highway. however, transwarp has greater speed capabilities. i did the math, and at warp 39 it will take 4 and a half minutes to travel the galaxy(100,000LY). however, in the episode timeless i do believe that it was only going to take voyager minutes to get back to earth through slipstream, but in hope and fear the dauntless was going to take a 3 month journey to cover 60,000LY. from what we have seen, slipstream is a more risky way to travel, at least using voyager. we see voyager in timeless as an example, but in other episodes, voyager can handle transwarp.

I always thought that Transwarp was v v v v v v v fast warp and slipstream was waaaaaaay faster.
After all, the Borg would have taken over the galaxy if that were untrue.
I rest my case...sort of...

well the borg can transwarp anywhere they want in the galaxy (maybe not now because the transwarp hub suffered its fate at the hands of the uss voyager).

ALMOST anywhere in the galaxy, remember, Admiral Janeway said (indirectly) that you have to have an exit apeture to fly through.

There were five more hubs then the one they destroyed, The whole network probably wasent destroyed and that one could be rebuilt.

From my information, SlipStream is rated for 300LY/HR. Transwarp is similliar but lasts for an indefinate amount of time. Warp 10 is the fastest one can possibily go; it is infinate velocity. Meaning that it goes infinitly fast in every direction. (velocity is a speed+a direction) The only problem with Warp 10 is that they never derived a solution to come out at a specific point in Warp.
