|
Why do you think the creators of star trek decide to go back in time?
i think it was the fact that voyager brought back so much technology that life would be to easy for starfleet, and they had no reason to fear the borg as they went bye bye.

no I reckon they felt that there were too many series based in Janeways time(TNG,DS9,VOY) and felt that they needed a change of scene and also many people wandered what early starfleet was like and requested a prequel series

I do like the idea of Enterprise being in the past. It's like a breath of fresh air. I like it alot!

Well, I guess going back even further would have made the show very hard to relate to...I like that they went back in time. Because Starfleet had just started, the characters are able to retain some prejudices that aren't exactly politically correct, like Archer's first views on T'Pol, but are very human. These characters are more flawed, making them easier to relate to...if they'd gone further into the future, we'd most likely have been presented with humans with nothing wrong with them. Like in Voyager, did you ever see Janeway be the least bit less than perfectly moral without a huge guilt trip being then laid down on her? Not that I can remember...it just would have been too difficult to accurately portray life that far ahead of our time.

I think because going forward might make us less interested in it, so they tried going back in time, and i think it worked out good.
Another reason might be because Starwars' eposode 1,2 and 3 are in the pass.

Actually, they started on Episode 4 because...Well I don't know.
Any way, Another reason they started in the past might have been because that the further into the future you go, the more difficult it is to write episodes whereas if you go back into the past you have so many new ideas and besides you know what will happen in the future so It makes it easier.
Case Closed.

as to if life would be easy in the federation now that voyager's back, what about the rebuilding after the Dominon war. Cardassia is in shambles, the Klingons, Romulans and Federation weren't much better off. And what about the Dominon back in the Gamma Quadrent, they didn't surrender in 2375. I'd say that, even by the end of 2377 when Voyager returned, there was a lot of uncertainty in the alpha/beta quadrents.
