I think Trip brings a little of the old southern touch to Enterprise. Actually has anyone noticed how cultural Enterprise is:
Archer is -----------> the American
Trip is-------------> the southren American
Dr. Phlox----------> the Alien
T'Pol ----------------> the Vulcan
Travis --------------> the Boomer/African American
Reed------------------> the Brit
Hoshi ------------------> the Asian
Did I forget anyone?
It's no wonder that sometimes these characters get on each others nerves. I think their culture has a lot to do with their character. Just look at T'Pol.

Usually you get one who is "trying to understand humanity" as well. Such as Data, Odo, and Seven...would that be Phlox in Enterprise?

The entire cast is great. Lt.Malcom Ried, Hoshi, T'pol, Archer, Phlox, Trip, Mayweather. Different than triditional ST characters. Much better.

Hey, I just noticed that in every series (Excluding DS9 when they introduced Worf) there is ONE black dude. I think it's just an attempt to not be discriminating towards a minority group. (Sounds a lot better than "racist")

Think about it;

TOS-Uhura
TNG-Worf
DS9-(before Worf) Sisko
VOY-Tuvok
ENT-Travis

Now, I am totally pro-multicultural thingy but I think that they should introduce people from all over the world and stop filling the show with Americans!!!
I'm an English dude and I don't think It's fair that they should only have one English guy in two series.(Different people though)
Also this goes for all countries. I think that TOS was the most culture-friendly but now It's all about the T.V.

I'm done now.
