They can't really get involved with crew, bc that rather impares their ability to make impartial decisions at times. Wasn't there some protocol against a Captain dating a crewmember, which is why Janeway never dated Chakotay? But Picard did it...
As for Picard's problems with women, I think the writers just got a bit too bored and ran out of plotlines for him.

Aye i agree Picard has a prob with women, though you can't say it's just cause he's a captain... if my memory is correct Kirk got his fair share of women. though if you are talking about commitment thats a whole different story

He's cursed. Women like him, and he can't have them. Cursed.

I totally agree! It's been driving me nuts that they aren't doing anything with it!

LOL, "The Naked Now". I personally love the episode "Attached" where they were telepathically linked, but it always bothered me that they didn't get anywhere after that.

Most captains dont have wives. It's hard to have a continuing relationship when you're moving all over the galaxy and dealing with weekly crisis situations.

That wasnt very nice, but I think that keeping a relationship in his position would be far to hard. Rikers' job is the reason that he and Deanna did not stay together.

Picard and Deanna? *shudders* Just wrong!! Oh, wait, RIKER and Deanna...phew! Was scared there for a minute...
In all honesty, I really can't see why all the women were attracted to Picard...he's a good captain, but not someone whom I'd find stunning.
