I think the thing I would want the most would be a transporter. That would be awesome. You could travel the earth in a matter of hours. I would mind the other things either...

My science teacher told me this is one exception to the rule that energy cannot be create or destroyed. This equation creates energy. At least, I think thats what she said. |
Your science teacher is correct, according to what i was taught. Matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed.

Intel have already developed the 4Khz processor, they are working on the 8Khz prosessor, this will continue during our life time. By the time im 30 there should be (in theory) 1000Khz processors, which would almost surpass the processing power of the Enterprise NCC1701. Maby not Galaxy class specs but not bad. If the same thing happens with storage then replicator technology will become a posibility in our lifetimes because we will have the technology. Also, I read in a car magazine that a new Toyota has a dashboard that uses holographic technology. It was a concept car and the holographic stuff was behind perspex, but this is now so you never know. Am I the only person here who is not synical? |
When you are talking processor speed do you mean GHz (gigahertz) rather than Khz(kilohertz), just asking?

OK 1 you would never know what hit you.
2 becuse the universe some how formed it self into a disk like shape with every planetary system conforming to the disk shape, all systems then form into a bigger disk, so if you alighn you star ship with your planitary disk and all outher species do too then all species would then be all alighned pefectly upright like you see in the show.
3 Star Fleet headquarters is in San Francisco, it is then safe to asume that the universal translators were invented there. and becuse of that it is very safe to asume the origanle inventors put there acents into it, becuse no person thinks they have an acent, only everybody else dose. My teachers from Briton, He wonders why americans have such strong acents, well we wonder the same about him. |
I agree with number 1, I do have other ideas for 2, and 3.
My idea for number 2 is that has the vessels near each other one of them scans (manually(the crew) or automatically(vessels computer)) the other vessels and aligns to its formation and that is why it always look like the information
My reasoning with number 3 is that not all americans have the same accent. Case in point is most people from the north say that people from the south have a different accent( I will relay this to the original post). Also in The Next Generation Picard is french, and some of the words he says appear to have a different accent than the word of the crew.

But, there are a couple of things that I'm a bit confused about. Actually, they could probably be discribed as major problems...
1. At warp speed, amagine what would happen if you hit another vessel travelling at warp speed...
2. If space is multi-directional, (ie, no up or down), then why do ships always meet upright to each other on the show?
3. Almost all other life-forms on the show speak English, and not to mention have an American accent.
I wish the future would turn out exactly like Star Trek on TV, (Voyager is my favourite) but it is unlikely.
Then again, I was reading the other day and found that it may be possible to make Replicators in the future using "micro-robots" that can build individual bits of matter. That would mean we could make ANYTHING!
What get really excited about is the computer aboard Voyager, wouldn't it be cool?
One final thing, does anyone know where I can e-mail the cast of Voyager, want to get an autograph...
Anyway guys, will be around... C ya.

I would like to slightly disagree with number 3. Obviously I do not need to mention the universal translators. May I ask what do you consider an american accent? I mention this because I know first hand that alot of the people in the south have a different accent than the people in the north (no offense to people of either area).
