Living in a bubble? On what do you come to that conclusion? American's have honor, and pride, and we fight our enemies face to face, and that's what we expect from others. Yes, that can be construed as a weakness, but I would rather die honorably than live a sniveling coward, i.e., bin Laden & Co. We are well aware that there are pathetic lowlifes out there with no morals, but we refuse to be intimidated by them, we refuse to live our lives in fear of what could happen, and instead live in the now. A note to anyone who believes that the US lives in a bubble, and thinks that we are the only ones affected by this, I suggest you click this link, and then tell me that we are the only ones in the world who were hurt by the 9/11 attacks. When you do, look at the faces, and look in their eyes. I particularly like the one from Tel Aviv I think, the poster that says "Today we are all USA".

Nor did I say you wern't affected. I did say, that we are not just jumping in and taking over. Other countries feel the same way. That site was just a reference to show you how deeply this affected the world not just the US. I was just trying to show that supporting our efforts shows just as much as those who are able to help fight.

Vietnam wasn't a good example. South Vietnam had asked for help, so in now way did the US just step in. North Vietnam (NV) wanted to unite the whole country, South Vietnam (SV), did not want that. NV was a communist state, SV wasn't. NV was being supplied by other communist nations, such as Russia. SV asked the US to help. But it doesn't surprise me that that comment was made. It's always been that way. In WWII, other nations were having fits because the US didn't join the fight. The World wants the US to be the police. They want our soldiers and our materials. They just want to tell us when, what, and where; and to turn a blind eye when told. And this statement isn't coming from just me.
The US is to blame if a small country is obliterated because we don't step into help, and if we do step in, we are the big, bad bullies. The world should figure out how they want it, and let us know.

Until the US gave all kinds of money and funded the UN, the US was the only "police" the world had. Obviously the US doesn't want to be a dictator, or it would have never given the money, and relinquished the power.

We've asked for help alot. Odds are the US wouldn't even be here had we not asked the French for help. And more recently, in Somalia, the US needed, and asked for, help. I think the only reason President Bush turned down help after 9/11 is because that attack was designed to make us go into chaos, to make us feel weak and vulnerable. One of the best things he could do was let the US take care of itself, take care of our own, and we did. *I am not talking about the war w/ that statement, I am talking about dealing w/ 9/11, and paying to clean up the sites, and restore the Pentagon, stuff like that.
Some Saudi prince offered Guiliani about a million dollars, and at first it was accepted, then the guy started telling the US what they should do, i.e., in Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc..... Needless to say, his money was quickly returned to him.
