I noticed that I recieved no replies to any of my posts dealing with the string theory/modern views of timespace. That is a bit alarming. COme on guys, either participate or try to learn some of the stuff (for example this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0375708111/qid=1020134776/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-0575983-7076649 is an exellent book to get you started). Don't you want to know how all the cool startrek technology works, eeh, would work?
UDPATE: Ok, it's getting much better

I too have had diffuclities with deep theory. I tried to explain the Theory of Relativity to one guy and he never once saiud a thing back to me.... OH well...

I have my Own hypothesis on Things taking longer times when faster.
As for Gravitational Speeds If you launch a ball and a cannon at the same speed in the same direction the cannon nor the ball will transfer energy to each other... However if one is moving faster then energy will transfer from one to the other. The amount of gravitational Energy will Increase in a Falling object down to the Terminal Velocity. However once it reaches this point it will stop accelerating. If gravity were to move at the terminal velocity it would explain why terminal velocity exist. However if terminal velocity is different depending on the gravitational Fields then it may be reasonable to assume... That Gravity travels faster with more gravity around... This raises a Large number of questions.... However if gravity does not change the terminal velocity around Stronger gravitational fields it may be reasonable to assume that Gravity's universal Speed is Earths terminal velocity. However if The terminal velocity Changes... It could be...... That gravity accelerates In the presence of stronger gravitational fields.

Gravity (gravitons actaully, gravity as a force can't move) moves at the speed of light.

There is hardly any evidence IF ANY that gravity moves at the speed of light.

Um, there is. In Newtonian physics there is no explanation of how gravity works, moreover it has to move faster than light in order ofor the theory to work. The latter is impossible according to specific relativity. Here general relativity comes in play: gravity is actually a ripple in spacetime, travelling at the speed of light. After thorugh experementation it has been concluded that gravity indeed moves at the speed of light, thereby proving newton wrong and Einstein right. If you want more info on ths, just ask me.

If gravity were "Going at the speed of Light" why is there a terminal velocity?
Would'nt we continue to accelerate until we reached light speed?

First and foremost, reaching light speed in space plane requires infinite energy. And by "moving at light speed" I mean the _effect_ of gravity moving at light speed, i.e. if the sun suddently disappeared (imagine that) we'd feel the impact in 149,503,000,000/3*10^8=~498.34 seconds.

If the earth stops rotating on its axis, and I mean an immediate hault, we'd all zing through the atmosphere totally sending our body parts into oblivion before we even knew we stopped rotating.

I know but it deals with the same theme of gravity and its effects and such.

Indeed. However, they fit perfectly into the theory and we should be fairly close to observing them.

Just a fun fact, gravitons are so far the only particle where quantum jitters cancel out the energy of superstring tension/vibration completely

Gravity is a Vibration or Like a wave of space-time right??
So that means That wouldnt it move at Infinite speed??
And if the Universe were supposedly becoming Infinitly contracted when you go at the speed of light wouldnt your speed be Infinite?
I mean to say faster than Light?

Ok I've had enoff of this yet I want to hear more
Gravity (acording to Newtons theory) is afected by the mass of an objet. The more mass the more gravity it creates, it dose travle at infinit speeds there for you could asume that an object could reach infinent speeds, but all of you have forgot that for every action there is an equal but oposit reaction. As something moves it is afected by the objects around it, the earth is afected by the delicat balece of cintrifial force and the suns gravity. this proces creates a tearing like friction on the Earth (the two forces want to split it) this friction between thease two forces ultimitle creates a barier that not only prevents loss of orbit but also keeps the planit in a perfect balence, If you can all remember back to basic fhisics and astronomy. the earths orbit is not circular but oliptical. the suns gravity pulls the Earth closer speeding us up untill the cintrificle force catches up loops us around and we start the whole thing over agen on the outher side of the sun. when we hit the point farthest from the sun the suns gravity slows us down and starts to pull us back. this is why we can never reach infanent volocity. Read Nutions Laws of sience it explains every thing you need to know to understand my statements. and almost any gravity related questions.

Thanks for the information, I found it enjoyable to read. I do not have a very good background in this area, I did understand most of the post though. I do plan to keep stopping back to see if any new info has been added.
