In the TNG episode "The Quality of Life" Data states that "you and a virus are very differnt, yet both are alive" to prove that these more simple matchines were alive, there is only one problem with that. A virus is not alive, it is nothing but protien encased nucleic acid(either DNA or RNA). It carries out no life functions. Did anyone else notice this, or it just me? Do you know and other examples of these errors?

Whether or not viri are alive has been a long discussion, and there is no dfinete conclusion.

I thought scientists had decided that Virus (though being on the boader line of life) were not living. Like stated earlier they are just instructions encased in a little suit of armor. The only thing that maked them close to living, is that they can reproduce. After that there isn't much to say. What do you know that I don't?

Until it is fully proven alive, it is non-living. It does portray characteristics of being alive, but it reacts, to me, like lighting gun powder on fire. It reacts to stimuli naturally.

You are Correct. A Virus is Non living. They are basically Instructions on reproduction and other things encased in Protien

They contain a strain of DNA or RNA (depends on the particular virus) - which are considered the basic molecules of "life"-and they act as thought they were alive when inside cells.

Maybe in their time there was proof that it's alive.
